CONCEPT OF INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Process of Individual Counseling :-

For continual improvement in the organization, it is immense important to implement the


various HR Tools. Individual Counseling is one of them which is required to improve the work
culture and overall performance of the organization. The process of individual counseling of the
employees is required the following :-

To identify the training needs/area to counsel by evaluating their performance on account


of :-
a) Skill Gradation
b) Attendance and Punctuality.
c) Attitude, Conduct and Behavior ( Observation at work place ).
d) Adaptability to new challenges and multiple jobs ( multiskill ).
e) General awareness about organization like QC, MVK, Quality of Product, Kaizen, SOP,
TQM, Manufacturing Cost, Benefits/Facilities etc.
f) Health, Hygiene and Safety.

Objective of Individual Counseling :-

The concentration of individual counseling session will be subject matters as mentioned above
towards overall up-gradation of the organizational performance keeping the motive of
belongingness and creating the knowledge enhancement culture to sustain the individual as well
as the organization in the fast changing and competitive era. During the session the counseling
team shall consider the following :-

a) Contribution for continual improvement to survive.


b) To mend the counselee with positive attitude.
c) To change the perception and thought process to adopt the challenge in the coming change
environment.
d) To improve awareness about weak areas and how they can strengthen it.
e) Knowledge creation through participation in the T&D programmes.
Mechanism of Counseling Session :-

On behalf of evaluation, observation at workplace randomly or as per need counseling session


shall be conducted. The supervisor/officer of concerned department and HR department along
with the counselee will participate. It will be the responsibility of HR department to inform all
the concerned about the counseling session at least one day in advance and the following steps
shall be followed :-

i. Primary data of the counselee to be completed in the FORMAT by HR department.


ii. Information regarding date, time and venue to be provided.
iii. Information about counseling team.
iv. Frequency :- As per requirement but at least once in a year, who are poor performer based
on below 240 days attendance or observed repeated deviation from standard SOP and mills
norms.

We expect through this exercise overall organizational culture, performance and work ethics of
the employees may improve for survival in the competitive scenario.
