SKILLS PEDAGOGY (STRATEGY/ACTIVITY) ​Content Standard ​Main: 3.1 Recognise words in linear and
non-linear texts by using knowledge of sounds of letter.
Complementary: 1.1 Recognise and reproduce target language sounds.
Learning Standard M ​ ain: 3.1.3 Blend phonemes (CVC, CCVC, CVCV, CCV)
Complementary :1.1.1 Recognise and reproduce with support a range of high frequency target language phonemes.
Pre-lesson: Pupils are given a word search puzzle to complete.
Lesson delivery: 1. Upon completion of the word search, pupils are called out the say out the words in the word
search. 2. Pupils are given the Phonics story comprehension. 3. Pupils read the story comprehension (M). Pupils
read the story comprehension with their friends’ guidance (L). 4. Pupils are guided to read and answer the
comprehension. 5. Pupils complete the comprehension questions.
Post-lesson: Pupils share their answers with everyone.
OBJECTIVES MATERIALS ​Main: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able read and answer at least 2 out of 3
questions correctly.
Complementary: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to reproduce the sounds of at least 4 words from the
word search correctly.

SKILLS PEDAGOGY (STRATEGY/ACTIVITY) ​Content Standard M ​ ain: 4.3 Communicate with appropriate
language form and style for a range of purposes in print and digital media.
Complementary: 1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of familiar contexts.
Learning Standard M ​ ain: 4.3.1 Use capital letters and full stops appropriately in guided writing at sentence level.
Complementary: 1.2.2 Understand with support specific information and details of simple sentences.
Pre-lesson: Pupils look at the picture in textbook page 64. Pupils listen to the audio CD2 31 and point to the
characters in the picture correctly.
Lesson delivery: 1. Pupils are introduced to question tags (What & how many) and question marks. 2. Pupils are
given a set of questions with options based on textbook page 64. 3. Pupils try to identify what’s missing from the
sentences and write the question marks using a colour pencil. 4. Pupils listen to the audio and circle the correct
answer. Pupils are given some time to copy the answer onto a 3 lined template.
Post-lesson: Answers are checked together. ​OBJECTIVES MATERIALS ​Main: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will
be able to circle and write least 4 correct answers with the correct punctuation.
Complementary: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen and circle at least 4 correct answers.

texts.
Complementary: 2.1 Communicate simple information intelligibly.
Learning Standard ​Main: 5.2.1 Name people, things, actions, or places of interest in texts.
Complementary: 2.1.3 Give a short sequence of basic instructions.
Pre-lesson: Pupils are shown a few samples of poems such as acrostic, bio, haiku.....
Lesson delivery: 1. Pupils are introduced to bio poems. 2. In each group, pupils are given an A3 sized paper with
different days written on top of the papers. 3. Pupils are guided to complete the poem. (Teacher determines the
number of lines in each poem). 4. Pupils then present their poem to their partners.
Post-lesson: Pupils are called out the present their poem in front of the class. ​OBJECTIVES MATERIALS ​Main: ​At
the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to state at least 3 details about themselves.
Complementary: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to perform with guidance.

SKILLS PEDAGOGY (STRATEGY/ACTIVITY) ​Content Standard M ​ ain: 1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of
familiar contexts.
Complementary: 3.1 Recognise words in linear and non- linear texts using knowledge of sounds of letter.
Learning Standard ​Main: 1.2.2 Understand with support specific information and details of simple sentences.
Complementary: 3.1.1 Identify, recognise and name the letters of the alphabet.
Pre-lesson: Pupils are shown a few pictures of daily routines or flashcards of days and other activities.
Lesson delivery: 1. Pupils do a recap of the vocabulary that they have learnt before this. 2. Pupils play with the ‘Roll
and Spell’ mat. They take turns to roll the dice and spell the word. Teachers can also ask the pupils to write down the
words. 3. Pupils are explained about the ‘Ball toss’ game where pupils sit in a big circle and pass the ball while the
music is played. When the music stops, teacher says a word and pupils spell the word / write the word.
Post-lesson: Pupils are called at random to write down words that teacher says. ​OBJECTIVES MATERIALS ​Main: ​At
the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen and spell at least 5 words correctly.
Complementary: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to spell at least 5 words correctly.

Learning Standard ​Main: 2.1.2 Find out about personal information by asking basic questions.
Complementary :4.2.1 Ask for and give basic personal information using basic questions and statements.
Pre-lesson: Pupils are shown the MyPlate sample and asked if they know what it means. Lesson delivery: 1. Pupils
are explained about healthy lifestyle and asked about the food that they should eat to be healthy. 2. Pupils are
reintroduced to certain question tags and how to answer them. 3. Pupils are explained about the ‘Let’s talk’ game.
Each group get a set of cards and take turns to pick a card. They must then read the card and answer it. 4. Pupils
play the ‘Let’s talk’ game. Post-lesson: Pupils are asked about their favourite question. ​OBJECTIVES MATERIALS
Main: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to answer at least 3 questions correctly.
Complementary: ​At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to read out at least 5 cards correctly.
