Scientific Method

By:Sarahi Gutierrez
Information/definition
The scientific method is a process for experiments that is used to explore observation and
answer question.Even though we show the scientific method as a series of steps, keep in
mind that new information or thinking might cause a scientist to backup and repeat steps at
any point during the process.A method of procedure that has characterized natural science
since the 17 century, consisting in systematic observation, meaning, and experiment and the
formulation,testing and modification of hypotheses
Scientific Method Steps
Hypothesis-A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of
limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation
Variable-Not consistent or having a fixed pattern;liable to change
Independent
Variable - A variable (often denoted by x)whose variation does not on that of
another
Dependent Variable-A variable(often denoted by y) whose value on that of another
Controlled
Variable -A controlled variable is the one element that is not changed throughout an
experiment, because it unchanging state allow the relationship between the other
variable being tested to be better understand
Model - In science, model is a representation of an idea,an object or even a process
or system that is used to describe and explain phenomena that cannot be
experienced directly.Models are central to what scientist do,both in their research as
well as when communicating their explanations.
Theory-A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially
one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
Law-A law in science is a generalized rule to explain a body of observation in the
form of a verbal or mathematical statement.Scientific laws(also known as natural
laws)imply a cause and effect between the observed elements and must always
apply under the same condition
