WCA TRAVEL TIPS

1. BOOK AHEAD OF TIME

Wether it's a hotel room or airline tickets, booking ahead

of time will save you a lot of money and gives you peace
of mind. Advance bookings may give you lower rates.

2. PROVIDE THE NAME THAT EXACTLY SHOWS ON

YOUR GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID.

It is very important that you provide the correct spelling

of your name on your travel bookings. You will be asked
of a government issued id such as valid PASSPORT,
SSS ID, etc., upon checking on at the airport or hotel. If
the name does not match, this will cause delay or may
not be allowed to checked in at all.

To make sure you are giving the correct

spelling of your name, you may show your travel ID to
your agent or spell your name phonetically (A for alpha,
B for bravo and so on) if booking over the phone.

3. CHECK-IN ON TIME

Airlines have different time allowances when it comes to

checking in on your flight.

Online chek-in is available for most airlines but there are

some restrictions (not available for pregnant women,
unaccompanied minors, etc.). This may be available on
the airline's website 24 hours before the flight, others 72
hours before the flight. Check it out with your airlines via
their own website or by calling their customer service
hotline.

Whether you prefer offline or online check-in, it is best to

contact the airlines to get the correct information about
it.

4. BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

Airlines have different baggage allowance. It depends

on the booking class you have (1st class, business class
or economy class ticket). Also, it depends if you are
taking a budget/low cost airline or a full service airline.
Furthermore, domestic and international trips have
different baggage allowance.

It is best to check your airline's website regarding this

matter or call their customer service hotline to get
accurate information.

5. INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT: PASSPORT

Make sure you bring a copy of your passport when you

travel abroad. This might help you get back to your
country or prove your identity in case your passport gets
lost or stolen.

It would also help to leave a copy of your passport at

home or to someone you trust. It is best to store an
ELECTRONIC copy in your email as well.
6. INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT: REGISTER WITH YOUR
EMBASSY

In case you encounter a problem in that country or an

unexpected events occurred, it will be of great help if
you registered with your embassy as it will be easier for
them to contact you or get you into safety.

7. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

You must research on the country you are going to for

you to be prepared of the travel document needed when
and while travelling there.

Aside from a valid airline/ cruise/ ferry ticket you may be

needing these documents:
 Unexpired Passport
 Unexpired VISA
 Transit VISA
 Entry VISA
 Doctor's letter regarding your medications you are
bringing with you
 Custody documents or other written consent from
the other parent when bringing your child
 Sponsor's financial capabilities and legal status
 Sponsor's contact details
 Vaccinations and other documents
 Household certificate/ hotel reservation (if no
relatives to visit)
These are some of the documents you should check on
depending on the country of origin, route and country of
destination. Also depends on the reason for travelling.
8. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: PASSPORT

Check on the validity of your PASSPORT. Usually it

should be valid for the next 6 months from the date of
travel completion.

You must also leave at least 2 blank pages on your

PASSPORT when you travel abroad.

9. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: VISA APPLICATION

If you need a visa, it is best to apply early.

Some visa applications are complicated and takes a

long time to process. You must have this type of
document ready before your departure date to avoid
problems like calling the airlines to change your travel
dates which may cost you a lot of money. If you have
hotel reservations, you have to change the dates as
well. These are just some of the complications you might
encounter if you do not get your VISA on time.

10. TRAVEL INSURANCE (OPTIONAL)

Some people may think that buying travel insurance is

not worth it. Actually buying a travel insurance is a
SMART move. It may cover the following:
 Trip Cancellation and Trip Interuption
 Baggage and personal items cover
 Emergency medical cover
 Accidental death or dismemberment cover, etc.
You can purchase from the airlines or cruise carriers
(something asked along booking your ticket),
independent travel agencies and sometimes you already
have one together with your credit card.

Make sure to read the policy before purchasing to make

sure it is the right one for you.

11. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: ITINERARY

It is not necessary to print your itinerary but it is

HELPFUL to have one handy for easy referrence.

Also, you can put a print out on your baggage together

with your contact details so you can be easily reunited
with your baggage in case it gets lost.
