Introduction

Almost everyone loves coffee. It has been said that some 330 million cup of

coffee are consumed every day in the US. This is a lot of coffee. What makes it more

attractive to enter into the coffee business is the low starting cost in comparison with

other businesses. Most people use around 200,000 dollars opening up a coffee shop. In

the scheme of things, this money is not that much considering what is involved in

opening a business. The second thing that makes cafe business very appealing is that even

though it is food service, and has the highest gnawing away rate than any other business,

it has a higher profit margin than say in a restaurant and this is an advantage (Godsmark,

Brown, & Arduser, 2004).

The café will serve gourmet coffees, teas and also frappes. The simple pastry

offerings may vary with seasonality but the primary line will be breads and cookies. All

pastries will be supplied daily by a local bakery.

According to Abrams & Kleiner (2003), coffee is also a very sexy business

especially when it includes teas or other drinks, everyone always wants to be associated

with a certain café shop that frequently visit and always tell their friends about. You

would not find people excited like this about when talking about other retail

establishments that they may patronize. Café bars are so personal because they are really

5
the third place for many of us. They are relaxing places that people can even carry their

laptops to and finish off their office work or even meet friends at.

MARKETING PLAN

A. Market Analysis Summary

A coffeehouse, coffee shop or café (sometimes spelled cafe) is an establishment

which primarily serves hot coffee, related coffee beverages (e.g., cafélatte,

cappuccino, espresso), tea, and other hot beverages. Many cafés also serve some type

of food, such as light snacks, muffins or pastries.

21
U.S. coffee consumption has shown steady growth, with gourmet coffee having

the strongest growth. Coffee drinkers in the Pacific Northwest are among the most

demanding ones. They favor well-brewed gourmet coffee drinks and demand great

service. Eugene, OR, with its liberal and outgoing populace and long rainy winter, has

traditionally been a great place for coffee establishments. Java Culture will strive to

build a loyal customer base by offering a great tasting coffee in a relaxing

environment of its coffee bar located close to the bustling University of Oregon

campus.

A café is where the lattes are almost too beautiful to drink. The major reason for

the customers to return to a specific café is a great tasting coffee, and other related

menus quick service and pleasant atmosphere. Although, as stated before, cafe

consumption is uniform across different income segments, Java Culture will price its

product offerings competitively. We strongly believe that selling coffee, tea, and frappe

with a great service in a nice setting will help us build a strong base of loyal clientele.

C. Industry Analysis
The café industry fronting NORSU experienced rapid growth at the

beginning of period and is now moving into the mature stage of its life cycle.
Negros Oriental State University is the main root or main target of the Delight

Café.
The Café’s is growing exponentially. Those who have not yet taste the

sweet and flavoured foods and drinks, relaxed atmosphere where they can feel

comfortable and chill while discovering other toothsome sweets. Delight Café

quest to provide its customer with affordable foods and drinks in a creative and

supportive environment. As what Delight Café offers to the customer, Delight

Café has a chance to enter the window of opportunity and gain more profits in the

market.

D. Competition and Buying Patterns

The main competitors of Delight Café are Bubble Pop, Chapters Café, and

Coffee Lab. These businesses are located near at Negros Oriental State University,

and target a similar segment to Delight Café.

Delight Cafe is competing with a variety of similar businesses. We need to

compete against the ideas that dessert is something that only follows a special

foods and drinks and needn't be any better than a frozen cake. We want every day

to be a reason to celebrate. While price may be a factor when competing against

Ice Cream and Coffee Shops, these same consumers who are willing to pay more

for a latte or a scoop of ice cream are already conscious of a better quality

product. We believe they will be equally as willing to spend a little extra for an

27
extraordinary dessert in a warm and friendly. Although restaurants, cafes,

bakeries, ice cream shops, etc. have an established position near in NORSU, none

are quite like Delight Cafe. We are offering the customers a completely new

experience and far higher quality product.

E. Target Market Segment Strategy

The target market of Delight Cafe will be students and teachers of Negros

Oriental State University, most especially people who are active on social media and

own and manage food blogs. Delight Cafe also targets people who see food as a way

to express oneself. Since our Delight Café is fronting Negros Oriental State

University so most of the consumers are the students from NORSU, which comprises

the biggest population. Delight Cafe caters to people who wants and enjoys sweets.

Delight Cafe customers will mainly compose of people who are active on social

media accounts, especially people with food blogs.

F. Marketing Strategy

Delight Cafe's marketing strategy will be the subsequent word-of-mouth. We will

become known as a unique dining experience as well as a superior pastry shop.

Customers will be reached through fliers, newspaper advertisements and special holiday

promotions. We also ensure that Delight Café will be staffed by acquainted employees

28
focused on serving the customer’s need. If a customer has any type of question or

concern, our employee will always be available.

G. Market Position

Consumers will view our product as a unique way to enjoy desserts. We have

products where the customers can personalize their dessert. Delight Cafe offers a variety

of sweets that you can use to customize your frappe, coffees, and etc. unlike the other

products in the market which are already ready-made.

H. People

Delight Café Cafe will cater to people who want to get their daily pastries and

drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. Such customers vary in age, although our location close

to the University Campus means that most of our customers will be students and workers.

Our market research shows that these are discerning customers that gravitate towards

better tasting pastries and drinks. The local climate with a long rainy season is very

conducive for the consumption of hot non-alcoholic beverages. At the same time, hot dry

summers drive people in cafes to order iced drinks. Furthermore, a lot of students

consider Delight cafe shop to be a convenient studying or meeting location, where they

can read or meet with peers without the necessity to pay cover charges.

29
I. Positioning

The products that are offered in our café is perfect to the target market which are

the students, teachers and many other more, mostly millennial. And as we all know,

millennial are into DIY or Do-It-Yourself products. So we, Delight Corporation decided

to have Delight café that offers variety of pastries and drinks that will definitely satisfy

the cravings of our customers.

VI. Recommendations

The following care the recommendations of the study provide d by the researchers to

make the business successful and able to gain satisfaction from the customers:

 Owners must monitor regularly the Delight Cafe as well as selling of the products.

Also, owners must make sure the foods prepared by the cook are satisfying the

customers and sanitary concerns are not taken for granted.

 Service staff must work with one another harmoniously to prevent personal

conflict within the workplace.

 The business shall continue to improve its services and expand the business at the

time passes by.

30
 The café should be a place where everyone can 'lounge' around on big comfy

sofas or beds.

 The coffee shops with the best 'vibe' where perhaps the music is good and

everyone could make a good night of it.

VII. Conclusion

Therefore, the most ideal location to open a new café business was in the area

fronting Negros Oriental State University. Although many cafes are in the area, the

researchers considered the fact that there were a lot more café shops there competing for

market share and Delight Café were never be left behind. The location's close proximity

to Negros Oriental State University, as a major institution with numerous students,

provided the necessary customer base for a successful business.
