Road Construction Project!
As you have probably noticed, the city is
doing substantial road construction on
Chicago Ave., north of Franklin Ave.
The city is nearing completion of this
renovation that included: replacing pave-
ment, adding turn lanes, and narrowing
the streets for a boulevard with trees
and grass.
During the construction,
access to Chicago Avenue
is still open. Here are the
options for parking when
you come to visit the Learning Center:
You will still have access to our
parking lot. At various times they
may need to close the lot—this will
be designated by orange cones.
Remember there is one-hour park-
ing on Franklin Ave.
There are additional parking spots
on Chicago Ave. south of Franklin as
well as on Elliot Ave.
Thanks for being patient during this
process. The road work should be com-
pleted later this fall, after which we will
have a nice, smooth road to drive on!

Celebrate a Minneapolis Tradition:
The Holidazzle Parade!
The 18th annual Holidazzle Parade displays over one million dazzling
lights as parade-goers watch their favorite storybook characters come to
life. Lighted floats, musical groups and costumed characters parade
down the Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis at 6:30pm. The pa-
rade is free to watch and runs from 12th Street to 4th Street every Thurs-
day through Sunday beginning November 26th until December 19th.
Bring your family to this wonderful Minneapolis winter tradition!

EITC... What have you done for me lately?
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal refundable tax credit for
low to middle-income persons. The Working Families Credit (WFC) is
Minnesota’s version of the EITC, ensuring that filers receive another credit of at least
25% of the federal EITC qualification.
Currently about 18% of those eligible for the EITC/WFC are not claiming it.
Who’s eligible:
Single or married people who worked at some point in 2010 and have a valid So-
cial Security number depending on their income .
Single adults without qualifying children must be over the age of 25 to receive the
EITC
Free tax preparation dedicated to increasing awareness and utilization of these credits
