    Combined-cycle gas and steam turbine power plants use both a gas turbine and a steam turbine together to produce electricity. The gas turbine produces waste heat that is used to make steam in a heat recovery steam generator. This steam then powers a steam turbine which generates additional electricity. Together the two turbine cycles dramatically increase the total efficiency of the plant compared to using one cycle alone.
