March 20, 2019 ‘To Whom It May Concern: Cira Davis has been a student teacher in my first grade classroom for the past nine weeks. During this time she took responsibility for teaching all subjects while managing behaviors, meeting the needs of diverse learners, and collaborating with other staff members. Ms. Davis has displayed many exceptional qualities during her time in the classroom. She carried out all of her student teaching duties in a responsible, professional manner. She attended first grade team meetings, where she shared her thoughts and ideas and collaborated with me on a daily basis to plan out lessons for each day. Ms. Davis also volunteered at our school-wide carnival and offered to tutor a student who missed several weeks during the school year due to illness. From the beginning of her student teaching experience, Ms. Davis was willing to try out new ideas and adjust her instruction to meet the needs of all learners. In her second week, she planned a small group measurement activity for three students who were working above grade level and continued to provide challenging activities for them even when she took over teaching the whole class. She also created a cross-curricular unit on Abraham Lincoln that involved reading books in small groups, creating concept webs, and writing paragraphs. During this particular unit Ms. Davis located leveled texts on the former president so that even struggling students could be successful in reading and recording information. Throughout her time in the classroom, she also remained calm and professional while working with a student whose behaviors proved very challenging. She never gave up on him and was always looking for ways to connect with him and help him do his best each day. Ithas been a joy to work with Cira. She made it easy for me to take her on as a student teacher. I highly recommend her for a position in your school district. Her love for children and hard-working attitude will make her a positive addition to any staff.
