Dance Competition

A committee comprising of members from SSBM, SID, SIIB, SIT has been given the
responsibility organizing the Dance Competition of Sanskritik Mahotsava 2013.

Rules and Regulation & Registration form

1. The committee calls for entries for group, Duo and Solo dance from
Institutes. For the purpose of award of prizes solo and duo will be treated as
one category and group dances will be treated as another category.
2. Time Limit: The maximum time allotted for Group dance is 6 minutes. There
must be minimum 4 members in a group, while there is no upper limit. The
maximum time allotted for duo and solo dances is 4 minutes.
The time limit shall not be extended beyond the prescribed limit.
 3. Theme: The committee has decided to introduce a theme based dance
completion and theme for this year is “Colours”. All dances group, duo or solo will
have to revolve around the theme.

 Venue :SIU Lavale Auditorium
Date: 21st January 2013
Time: 10.30am to 12.00pm
 The judges will be renowned dancers from outside Symbiosis.
 Prize: A cash prize for both the categories will be given as per the decision
of judges, the details of the same are as follows
Group Dance 1st Prize: Rs. 10000/- (Ten thousand only )
2nd Prize: Rs. 7500/- (Seven thousand and five hundred only )
3rd Prize: Rs. 5000/- (Five thousand only)
Solo & Duo 1stPrize:Rs. 2500/- (Two thousand five hundred only)

 Makeup: This year the Sanskritik organizing committee has decided to

make available the services of 3 or 4 beauticians for all dance participants.
The cost of these beauticians will be borne by the Sanskritik organizing
committee and participants are encouraged to avail these services. Those
 who have any family members having their own beauty parlour who would
be interested may recommend their names to Miss. Vidya Dhanwantari of

 Drapery: Cost of drapery and props will be borne by the respective
institutes.
 All entries must be sent to Mrs. SupriyaDatar( SSBM) on or before Saturday
December 15, 2012.

Since there is a time limit of 90 minutes for all dances, there will be an
elimination round to select the dances that will qualify for the finals on January
21st. The elimination round will be held on January 3 rd from 10.00am at
Vishwabhavan Auditorium, S.B.Road.

For elimination round:

 The participants are requested to bring two CDs of the song on which
they will perform.
 Drapery or props are not compulsory for this round and shall not be
considered as a criteria for judging.
 Judging Criteria: The dance performance will be judged on the following
criteria
 Costumes
 Props used
 Expressions
 Choreography
 Coordination/ synchronization
 Interpretation of the theme/ Originality of the idea
The decision of the judges shall be final.
 The list of selected groups and solo performers for the final day will be
announced on the day of elimination itself.
 A disciplinary committee has been appointed to address any issue which
may arise and the same could be raised with the members of the
committee.
 After the elimination round participants of selected groups, and solo
performers will be given further directions regarding the performance on
January 21st. ( submission of CD, reporting time etc)
