Some requirement of Aeent Bankinp Division to boost up existine business portfolio

A. General lssues:
1. Advertisement through "Daily Newspaper" in monthly basis.
2. Mail to all branch managers to enhance Agent outlet as before.
3. Agent performance should include as a subsidiary performance of related branch as Al-
Arafa lslamic Bank and others.
4, Meeting should be arranged at least quarterly basis with the owner of the Agent Outlet.
5. We have two mobile phone sets which monthly ceiling is only Tk 1,000/ only. We have to
communicate with different Agent outlets, customers, branches to solve the various
issues related to Agent Banking. We need that ceilingto Tk 3,000/- per month to run the
business smoothly.
6. One GB officer of nearest branch should visit monthly basis to the outlets to regularize
the various account opening forms.
7. Statement charge should be imposed for the customers except half yearly and yearly
statement in a year. Access of the customers to have their account statement from the
outlet by using figure thumb.

B. lT related issues:
1. lntroduce auto renewal of FDR.
2. lnclusion of employee lD while opening an account in the Agent outlet.
3. Laser print required instead of POS print. ln POS print, the information deletes within
few days.
4. Photo and other documents of nominee, (e.g., NID/Passport, etc) should be visible/
.attached in Agent Banking Software (ABS).
5. An Agent can't see the total deposit, total number of account, etc from the outlet dash
board. Agent should visualize his business at a glanceto enhance his business.
6. Loan facility should be started for the outlets.
7. As per SBL Agent Banking policy submitted to Bangladesh Bank, we need to ensure the
business continuity plan, we need to maintain Agent outlet customers account Back up
require by nearest branch to operate the agent and customer account by branch in case
of emergency or if needed to close the outlet.
8. Access to fund transfer from one outlet to other outlets through all type of account.
C. Foreign Remittance issue:
1,. We have only four Foreign Remittance Co. (Western Union, Money Gram, Express
Money & lnstant Cash). We have to increase the Foreign Remittance service by inclusion
of Ria, Transfast, IME etc. (8 to LL digit all required)
D. Card related issue:
L. We may provide debit card forthe clients of Agent outlet and debit card with PIN will be
delivered through link branch.
E. Training related issues:
L. Training is needed for all outlet users through our Training Institute.
2. SBLtraining institute should arrange a class regarding Agent Banking in various training
program for officials including Branch Managers.
F. Compliance related issues:
1,. One ARO (Asst. Relationship Officer)/CRO (Customer Relationship Officer) is required
before 7 days of opening a new outlet and will stay minimum forthe next one month.

7. lndividual TP of Agent should be change in the system.
B. We have only four Foreign Remittance Co. (Western Union, Money Gram, Express Money &
lnstant Cash). We have to increase the Foreign Remittance service.
9. Loan facility should be started for the outlets.
10. Before opening a new outlet, we have to be confirmed about approximately 3 crore deposit
and 600-700 various accounts within three months.
1L. lnitial investment for decoration with accessories upto opening should not be more than 3
lac. Premises rent, salary, utility bill should be in range.
12. We should setup our mind to open quality outlets not in quantity.
13. Training is needed for all outlet users through our Training lnstitute.
1,4. We may provide debit card only for the prospective clients.
15. Agents account balance should be Tk 5 lac as per policy guideline. So that we can minimize
regularly fund transfer formalities.
16. One GB officer of nearest branch can visit monthly basis to the outlets to regularize the
various account opening forms.
17. SBL training institute should arrange a class regarding Agent Banking in various training
program for officials including Branch Managers.
18. An instruction may be circulated through the top management among the Managers to
enhance Agent Banking business.
19. Every outlet should have one ARO as per policy.
20. We may provide branding materials including sign board in free of cost to the new agents.
21. Fees & Charges need to be revised, e.g.-Afc statement charge (yearly two times free) &
other times we may impose charge for getting account statement where agent can get
commission on this charge.
22. Penalty charge for clearing cheque return due to insufficient fund as like as branch can do.
23. Fund transfer fee need to be reduced in case of SBL internal fund transfer.
24. Account opening name scanning module installation required for AML purpose.
25. Financial benefit need to be given to agents against opening of new accounts.
26. Agent mother account -AlT deduction LO%o required instead of L5% in case of placement of
TIN certificate. lt should be rectified.
27. Proposal for inclusion of deposit amount of agent outlet to the link branch. 5o that they
will get benefit by opening new outlet. ABD need expansion of business rater then only GL
profit.
28. All product and services of SBL branch should be accessible by the agent outlet.

New AHent selection criteria

t. He/She should be a citizen of Bangladesh


2. Business experience should be minimum one year
3. Net income per month should be minimum Tk 50,000/- (Taka fifty thousand) only
4. Personal Net worth should be minimum Tk 50 lac
5. Social acceptance of the Agent is highly required in the outlet area
6. CIB must be clean
7. Police verification report must be clean
8. Educational qualification must be minimum SSC passed
9. A good bank account statement for six months required
10. Bank solvency certificate is required.
11. He/She should be a Local resident of the outlet area for about L0 years
12. There should be 300-500 shops in the Outlet area.
13. Own premises holders will get preference
14. The Agent should have capability to open 600-800 accounts within the six months
of opening the outlet
15.The Agent should have the capability to ensure deposit 5 Crore or above as
customer balance within approximately six months of opening the outlet
L6.Ability to invest Tk 15-20 lacs for the new outlet in the approximately first six
months
L7. Distance of the Outlet should be more than one kilometer from our existing SBL
branch
18. No private bank's branch is allowed in the outlet area
l-9. More than one Agent outlet of the other banks will not be accepted
20. Agent outlet premises size- 400-800 sqft is preferable
21.Agent outlet must be secured and pacca construction with collapsible gate
22. Outlet rent should be within the range of Tk 2,000/- to 5,000/- per month
23.Adequate computer knowledge is required for the outlet users and their
educational qualification should be graduate
24.lnitially 2 users and one sub-staff can start the new outlet operational functions
and gradually can increase the manpower according the profit of the outlet.

L. Application from the prospective agent through link branch


2. Scrutiny of documents by Agent Banking Division
3. Study of feasibility report submitted by Branch Manager and Head of Agent
Banking Division
4. Verification report of Agent's NID
5. Place the application with "ASC Memo" before Agent Selection Committee
6. Preparation of "Office Note" for Management approval for appointment as Agent
7. lssue of Appointment letter for new Agent
8. Signing of an Agreement between Bank and the Agent
9. Preparation for opening the new Agent outlet
l-0. lssuance of Agent License before opening the outlet
11. "Office Note" mentioning the date of opening of new outlet.
1-2.A letter is issued to the link branch for monitoring and supervision of the new
outlet
13. Opening of Agent "Mother account" and advised to deposit Tk 5 lac before
opening the outlet
14. Distribution of printing materials and related documents to the outlet
15. Officers from ABD & lT are to be sent to the outlet for training and lT set-up
purpose before opening the outlet

L7. Reporting to Bangladesh Bank with opening photographs and Agency agreement
within 7 days after opening the agent outlet.

5. Complaint box and a notice board is required for all outlets.
