CeraView supports all FibeAir products, and compliments Ceragon’s PolyView™ by providing the basic
level of management support. FibeAir elements in the network are easily controlled using CeraView, via
screens such as Trap Forwarding, IDU/ODU/RFU Configuration, Loopbacks for maintenance, and more.

Quick Information
CeraView’s graphical interface lets you know how the FibeAir unit is operating through an online display of
the unit’s front panel. The front panel display shows active LED indications for fast error detection and
handling.
In addition, you can access configuration screens from the front panel display by clicking on different areas
in the display.
Element Configuration
A variety of configuration screens gives you the ability to configure FibeAir units by modifying parameter
values and setting control options.
All FibeAir system components can be configured via CeraView. Configuration screens are available for the
IDU, ODU, RFU, alarms, protection options, and more.
When CeraView is integrated with other NMS platforms, such as HP OpenView and SNMPc, element
configuration can be launched by double-clicking on the FibeAir unit icon in the NMS network map.
Event Monitoring
Working with CeraView, you can keep track of FibeAir system events, and control the way the events are
reported. Performance monitoring screens provide online graphical and textual information concerning
FibeAir operation. Event log files store information that includes past performance dates and values.
CeraView displays current and historical alarm information. The current alarms display shows active alarms
represented by different colors. Also shown are the current temperatures of the local and remote IDU, ODU,
and RFU units. In the historical alarm log, you can view past alarms and filter the severity levels that will
appear in the list.
Input/output external alarms are user-configurable, including the alarm text and severity.
System Maintenance
CeraView provides loopback testing for FibeAir systems to determine system operation. Loopback tests can
be conducted for internal/external lines, the IDU, the ODU, and the RFU.
Maintenance operations also include clearing performance monitoring logs, and software download.
CeraView implements Ceragon’s management concept by enabling integration with other NMS platforms
such as HP OpenView and SNMPc.
In an integrated management system, the NMS platform provides comprehensive control of all elements in
the network. CeraView integrates with the platform to provide additional management functions for
Ceragon’s FibeAir™ elements in the network.
The following diagram shows how CeraView management is integrated with another NMS platform.
As shown in the diagram above, the NMS application provides a graphic view of the integrated network
topology, monitors the status of elements in the network (including Ceragon elements), and provides fault
management, which includes alarm message display and logging.
The NMS receives traps directly from FibeAir units via SNMP. The traps are logged and their status is
monitored. When necessary, alarm messages are generated.
CeraView is launched from within the NMS GUI by double-clicking the element icon.
System Overview
CeraView was designed with the qualities that make an EMS user-friendly and efficient. It allows authorized
personnel to configure, monitor, and maintain Ceragon elements in the network, and through a combination
of configuration, performance monitoring, and maintenance screens, makes comprehensive management of
FibeAir elements fast and simple.
CeraView is based on SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which has become the de facto
standard for internetwork management. Traps and other system information can be passed on to other NMS
platforms via SNMP.
FibeAir units communicate with CeraView through FibeAir’s SNMP ports. SNMP or ASCII based
management data can also be delivered to CeraView through FibeAir’s RS-232 terminal port. The terminal
port can be connected to an LCT (Local Craft Terminal).
Integration with NMS platforms enables CeraView to provide information and control of FibeAir elements
within a network that includes other elements. NMS platforms such as HP OpenView can launch CeraView
whenever management of a FibeAir element in the network is necessary.
Information about FibeAir elements is provided in system reports. Configuration reports provided by
CeraView display information about FibeAir system parameters and values. The reports can be saved for
later viewing and export to other applications.
For protected (1+1) FibeAir systems, CeraView allows authorized users to switch from the primary radio to
the secondary radio. It also lets you decide which criteria will be used to trigger the protection switch.
CeraView security is based on the Ceragon Security Server (CSS), which determines user access rights upon
login, and disables parts of the system that the user is not authorized to access. The system administrator can
create groups with global access rights, and assign users to each group. Access rights are based on a
hierarchical structure, whereby only the highest user level has total read/write access to the system.

The CSS application protects the user from unauthorized entry and from unauthorized modification of
Ceragon system configuration.
The following diagram shows how the CSS operates to protect the CeraView management system.
Ceragon
Security
Server
DCN
As shown in the diagram, PCs running the CeraView application are protected by the Ceragon Security
Server.
Upon user login, the CSS determines which CeraView components the user has the right to access.
CeraView components not authorized for that user are automatically disabled.
System
Administrator
System Administrator The highest level of security is for the system administrator, who defines all
other users in the system and assigns them access rights.
The administrator has total access to CeraView and all of its components,
including the CSS.
The administrator defines groups, the users who belong to them, and the
access rights assigned to users collectively.
Groups Groups, defined by the administrator, include lists of users and the access
rights assigned to them collectively.
Two groups, Admin and Viewer are predefined in the CSS. The Admin group
has read/write access to CeraView and its components. The Viewer group has
read-only access to CeraView and its components.
The system administrator can also define other groups when necessary.
Users Users are added to groups by the system administrator, and have the access
rights of the group to which they belong.
