I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. employ appropriate pitch, stress, juncture and intonation in speech. (EN-10WC-IIa-13.1)
b. identify the stress and intonation from the sentence they will hear. (EN-10WC-IIa-13.1)

Topic: Suprasegmental Features

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Greetings
2. Classroom Management
3. Checking of attendance

B. Review
 Why do you think stress, juncture, pitch and intonation are important in speaking?
C. Motivation
 The teacher will read sentences and the students will identify what kind of intonation
was used in each sentence and the word that was being stress.

D. Lesson Proper
 Discussion of the commonly used expression in speaking.
 Using each expression in a sentence incorporating the correct intonation, juncture,
stress and pitch.

E. APPLICATION
 Directions: Form a group and perform the intonation activities for oral
fluency.(Please refer to LM page 137)

F. GENERALIZATION
 Does the meaning of the same word/group of words differ when used in different
situation?
IV. EVALUATION:
 Directions: Listen carefully to the audio clip and identify the stressed word/s and
intonation for each sentence.

1. He didn’t like me.


2. In short, they want you out of here.
3. It’d be a change of view at least.
4. Get out of my way.
5. Get out of my country.
6. I think they wanted to trample me.
7. I could’ve killed him.
8. I know what they like.
9. He was angry.
