Passing Drills

In the middle
- Students are organised into groups of 3, positioned at the base line
- The students on the outside lines have a ball, whilst the middle person doesn’t
- The aim is to pass the ball to the middle person whilst moving up the court to the other end
- Player 1 (on the left) passes the ball to the middle person, who receives it, then passes it
back to player 1
- The middle person then receives a ball from player 3 (on the
right), catches it, then passes it back to player 3.
- Students continue this whilst moving down the court
- Students can dribble the ball in-between passes to avoid
travelling
Progression
- The students with the balls can perform a layup once getting to
the end of the court
- Increase speed of passes
- Vary types of passes
KTPS
- Ball held with 2 hands in front of the chest
- Step forward and push the ball to your target
- Head up to receive the ball back

Run onto it
- Students are spread out evenly and positioned on each corner of the half-court
- The ball begins in one court and is thrown to each
student around the court
- When receiving the ball, players must run out,
receiving the pass on the run.
- Once receiving the ball, they then pass to the
next player who has begun their lead to receive
the pass
- Students continue around the square until all
students have had a turn
- Continue for chosen time
Progression
- Change playing area
- Use a variety of long and short passes
- Include time limit
KTPS
- Ball held with 2 hands in front of the chest
- Step forward and push the ball to your target
- Head up to receive the ball back
- Effective movement to space to receive the pass

Netball
- Students are organised into teams of 4-5 (depending on numbers)
- Two teams are positioned on one court with one ball
- Students are to play a regular full-court game, however can't dribble the ball
- The focus should be on passes and getting into space to receive a pass
- Students are able to bounce, however cannot dribble
- The game is played to 5 points, with 3-pointers only worth 2, and regular shots only worth 1
point
- The team must also win by 2 points
Progression
- Change number of players
- Increase playing area
- Restrict players to only one type of pass, e.g. chest pass or bounce pass
- Include another team, e.g. 3 teams per court
KTPS
- Ball held with 2 hands in front of the chest
- Step forward and push the ball to your target
- Head up to receive the ball
- Effective movement to space to receive the pass
