Missile Guidance and Navigation

Subject Code (Aerospace Engineering) L T P C

ASB-451
Total Contact Hours : 40 Hours

Prerequisite: None
Marks-100
Duration of External Exam : 3 Hours
Internal-40 External-60
Course Objective
● To understand the basic of missile guidance theory and its applications to tactical
missiles.
● To understand the classical to modern developments in missile guidance is covered
using both an empirical approach (which is standard in teaching classical guidance
laws) and then a control theoretic approach (which would deal mainly with modern
guidance laws and its linkages with the classical laws).
● To understand an important application of control theory related to guided missiles.

Unit Course Outcome

Unit-1: The student should be able to understand the missile guidance theory and its
I
applications.

Unit-2: The student should be able to understand classical to modern developments in

missile guidance.

Unit-3: The student should be able to understand the navigation system

Note for Paper setter:

The syllabus has been divided into three units. Paper setter will set three questions from each
unit and one compulsory question spread over the whole syllabus & consisting of short answer
questions. The compulsory question will be set as first question. The students will be required to
attempt six questions in all including the compulsory question. The student can attempt
maximum two questions from each unit. All questions carry equal marks.
