Metro adventure with Katie & Montana Marie!
While the Washington, D.C. Trip is packed with
educational opportunities, there can be a bit of goofing
off getting from Point A to Point B. Such was the case
on the Metro as Katie Kaiser and Marie Pederson try
their luck at “pole dancing”, notice the cash in Katie’s
hand? They must have been doing a good job! Metro
is the third-busiest rapid transit system in the United
States in number of passenger trips, after the New

117 miles of route. Approximately 180 million trips are
taken annually. If you happened to take the Metro in
June 2008, you were part of a monthly ridership record
with 19,729,641 trips, or 798,456 per weekday. The
highest ridership for a single day was on the day of the
first inauguration of Barack Obama, January 20, 2009,
with 1,120,000 riders. It broke the previous record, set
the day before, of 866,681 riders.

Answer: The trip to the river just got shorter.
While moderate flooding on the Milk River is
occurring at Tampico (24 feet is moderate, it was at 26
feet this morning), Glasgow is just hitting the moderate
stage (29 feet) and is expected to hit major stage (31
feet) later this week. But according to the chart provided
by NWS, the Milk River in Glasgow is looking to crest at
31 feet.
Nashua is in minor flood stage at 23.5 feet and not
expected to even reach moderate flood stage.
The Poplar River is on a rip-n-roar with major
flooding happening near Poplar today (at 19.6 feet,
major flood stage is 19 feet).

How low can you go...
Scammers will use just about anything to get your
money, but could this be a new low? The Montana
Highway Patrol is advising people to beware of scams
targeting those who want to help state trooper Wade
Palmer who was shot three times inside his patrol
vehicle north of Missoula.
A number of legitimate fundraising campaigns to
benefit Palmer and his family were launched shortly after
the incident, but now there is a fraudulent GoFundMe
account and a phone scam targeting people seeking to
make donations.
It’s a good reminder to be suspicious of strangers
calling on the phone and asking for money.
Yet another scammer is calling registered sex offenders
and claiming that they are not compliant on the sex
offender registry and demanding money to be compliant.
