Mark Edington, Head of Grant Management

Mark Edington leads the Grant Management Division and oversees the Global Fund’s investments
in more than 100 countries. He manages 350 staff in six departments. Edington oversaw the Global
Fund’s transition to a new, allocation-based funding model from the previous rounds-based system
starting in 2012.

Edington joined the Global Fund from Save the Children International, where he was the
International Program Director, after several years as Senior Vice President for International
Programs at Save the Children US. One of the program streams he led included health and a
dedicated HIV/AIDS department for Save the Children US.

Prior to this, he held a variety of headquarters and field positions. Edington started his career as a
chartered accountant and management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He is a dual
national of the United Kingdom and the United States.
