ASSIGNMENT

Preliminary Estimations

When preparing for water-related fieldwork or project development, it is often helpful to have
advanced knowledge of site hydrology including weather, stream discharge, stage, topography,
etc. This report contains hydrologic estimations for the basins given. The estimations include:

1. Catchment area characteristics

From the map, Select a stream and a cross section.


1.1 Describe the physical features of a river and its valley from the map.
1.2 Define its catchment area, define the area. Comment the shape and the its
characteristics.
1.3 Compute the time of concentration
2. Precipitation
2.1 Define meteorological station inside and outside the catchment area
2.1 Calculate the average precipitation using Theisen methods.
2.2 Design the resultant Hyetograph.
