INTRODUCTION
EUTHANASIA : MURDER OR MERCY?

Euthanasia, the term is derived from two Greek words “Eu” and “Thanatosis”,
meaning ‘Good Death’.

To end a person’s life on demand of others or one’s own will, not to end one’s life,
but to end all the sufferings is termed as Euthanasia.

It allows people to be free of physical pain, followed by mental suffering.

 It all revolves around the concept of ‘Quality of Life’ vs ‘Quantity of Life’.

2
TARGET vs ACCOMPLISHMENT
 The issue of euthanasia has always remained controversial. So, we had planned
to cover as many aspects of euthanasia as possible. When we were designing the
PPT, what I had in the back of my head was to create awareness and to let
people know about pros and cons of euthanasia. Whether to support or oppose
the issue. There are people who are better willing to die than to live in misery.
But, again, there are examples where people use euthanasia as a better term for
suicide.
 However, we tried to input as much details as we can but turns out, Euthanasia is
too vast a topic to be covered in just 8 slides. Although we have input almost all
the necessary details and data.

3
ANALYSIS
 Quite honestly, I had no idea about our topic when we first got it. But what we
did was that we didn’t panic. We did some research, read some articles on the
internet, gained a quick yet deep knowledge about the topic, its controversies
and its depth.
 We did all our research on the articles on the internet.
 The group PPT taught us the spirit of teamwork and some extra knowledge is
never a bad thing. By the means of the ppt, we also got the opportunity to learn
something new!

CONCLUSION
“The right to die with dignity is justifiable.” The arguments I have presented stand on
their own if they are considered with an open mind, devoid as far as possible of any
cultural, religious or other bias. They lead to the conclusion that the Medical Services
(Dying with Dignity) Bill ought be enacted, possibly with amendments. If all individuals
are to be respected, then Australia must observe the right to die with dignity. Despite
the claims of those who oppose voluntary euthanasia, they do not know what is better
for terminally ill patients more than the patients themselves. The rights of an individual
must prevail.
