ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

Mechanics:
 There must be (1) ONE representative per grade level.
 The essay must focus with the theme given.

 Number of words used is not limited as long as the essay observes correct
procedure in writing.
 Participants will be given 2 hrs to write his/her essay.
 Only one student who will get the highest score will declare as winner

2.POSTER MAKING CONTEST

Contenders: Grade 7-11

Mechanics:
 The poster making contest shall focus around the theme to be given.
 Only one representative by grade level is allowed to join the contest.
 The contestants will be given 2 hrs to render/complete the poster on a one-
whole size white cartolina.

Criteria:
 CREATIVITY – 25%
 RELEVANCE TO THE THEME- 25%
 COLOR HARMONY-25%
 UNIQUENESS/VISUAL IMPACT- 25%

3.SLOGAN

Contenders: Grade 7 -11

Mechanics:
 The slogan shall be written in English and should contain an exact measure
(number of syllables per line) based on the topic/theme to be given.
 Only one representative by grade level will be allowed to join the contest
 The contestant will be given 2 hours to write/complete the slogan using Black
Pentel Pen on a one half size white cartolina

Criteria:
 CONTENT- 40% (slogan’s relevance to the topic, accuracy of the fact presented)
 MECHANICS: 30% (correct punctuation, spelling, grammar etc.)
 FORM- 30% (correct margin, indentions, neatness,& handwriting)

4. QUIZ BEE

Contenders: Grade 7 -11

Mechanics:
 The contest is divided into (3) rounds. (EASY, AVERAGE, and DIFFICULT)
 Each round is composed of (5) five questions.
 Participants shall be composed of 5 members per section.
 Participants will be given 30 seconds to answer in every round.
 Any student who fails to give the correct answer will be automatically eliminated.
 Questions will revolve around in Literature, Grammar and Vocabulary.
 To determine the winner, the final two contestants should remain in the contest.
When only two contestants remain in the contest they must eliminate one
another in best of three rounds. Thus, the students who will accumulate the
highest score will be declared as winner.
 In case of a tie, tie breaker questions will be given until the tie is broken in the
clincher round.
 All participants should provide their own long bond papers & Pentel Pen.
5. STORY TELLING

Mechanics:
 There must be at least one representative per grade level.
 The representative will deliver a story based on his/her personal choice.
 Costume and props are allowed to enhance the contestants’ delivery.

Criteria:
 PRONUNCIATION- 20%
 SKILLS IN ELICITING EMOTION & EXPRESSION OF THE CHARACTER PLAYED- 20%
 VOICE VARIATION & PROJECTION- 20%
 COSTUME & PROPS- 40%

6.DECLAMATION

Contenders: Grade 7-11

Mechanics:
 There must be at least one representative per grade level.
 The presentation must last for a maximum length of 7 minutes.
 Background music, body props, and other props are allowed.

Criteria:
 CONTENT & PRESENTATION- 40% (memorization, mastery, poise, posture & eye
contact)
 ELOQUENCE & DELIVERY- 40% ( overall intonation, rhythm, correct pronunciation
& stress, proficiency in handling difficult structures, voice quality & Projection)
 OVERALL IMPACT- 20 %
7. SINGING CONTEST

Contenders: All participants will compete amongst each other.

Mechanics:
 There should be (1) ONE representative per section.
 All GLEE CLUB MEMBERS are NOT ALLOWED to join the contest.
 The song piece should be English and must be of any choice by the contestant.

Criteria:
 VOICE ABILITY- 50% (Vocal strength, pitch, tone, melody, song choice in relation to
contestants’ vocal ability.
 STAGE PRESENCE- 40% (Eye contact, confidence, )connection with the audience,
facial expression, body language, & comfort level)
 AUDIENCE IMPACT- 10% ( Appreciativeness of audience)

8. SINGING CONTEST

Contenders: All groups will compete amongst other group.

Mechanics:
 The SINGING contest shall compose of ___10 members.
 The group may not necessary exclusive by section. Mixed members from other
sections are allowed.
 The performance should last for a maximum of 7 minutes.
 ALL OFFICIAL GLEE CLUB MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE CONTEST.
Criteria:
 QUALITY OF VOICE- 40%
 HARMONY- 30%
 STAGE PRESENCE- 20%
 AUDIENCE IMPACT- 10 %
9. SPEECH CHOIR

Contenders: Grade 7 -11

Mechanics:
 The number of participants shall be composed of maximum of 30.
 The contest piece is based on his/her personal choice under the content standard
of curriculum
 Participants may opt to wear any costume they want.

Criteria:
 INTERPRETATION- 40% (manner in which the piece internalized and presented)
 DELIVERY- 40% ( Quality of voice fluency, pronunciation, blending & harmony)
 STAGE PRESENCE- 20% (stage poise, eye contact, and audience impact)

10. SPELLING BEE

Contenders: Grade 7 -11

Mechanics:
 The contest is divided into (3) rounds. (EASY, AVERAGE, and DIFFICULT)
 Each round is composed of (5) five words.
 Participants shall be composed of 10 students per section.
 Spellers will be given 20 seconds to answer in every round.
 Any speller who fails to give the correct spell will be automatically eliminated.
 To determine the winner, the final two spellers should remain in the contest.
When only two spellers remain in the contest, they must eliminate one another in
best of five rounds. Thus, the students who will accumulate the highest score will
be declared as winner.
 In case of a tie, tie breaker words will be given until the tie is broken in the
