English Moral Stories

A Rich Man and His Son - A Moral Story

A rich man's son was graduating college.

For months, the son was asking his father for a new car, knowing that his
father had more than enough money.

When graduation day came, the young man's father called him into the
study. The father handed him a wrapped gift and congratulated him about
his graduation and his achievement.

Looking disappointed, the son opened the gift to find a lovely, leather
bound journal, with the young man's name embossed on the cover. He
angrily raised his voice, threw down the journal and stormed out.

The young man had not seen his father since graduation day. He became
successful and was wealthy like his father, with a beautiful home and
family. He came to realize his father was aging and it may be time to put
the past behind them.

Just then, he received a message that his father had passed, and he had
to return home to take care of the estate.

As the mourning son regretfully returned home, he began searchi ng

through his father's important papers and saw that still new journal, just
as he had left it.

He opened it, and as he flipped through the pages a car key dropped from
the back of the journal.

A dealer tag was attached to the key that read "Paid in f ull. Wherever this
car takes you, write about it to remember it forever. Love, Dad"

Moral of the Story

No matter what you expect, be grateful for what you are given. It may be
more of a blessing than you think.
An Old Man and A PhoneAn Old Man and A Phone

Very Heart Touching A Bitter Truth

An old man took his phone to a Repair shop.

Repairer told that old man that nothing is wrong with this phone.

Old man with tears in his eyes said that Then why Don't my children ever
call me?

Be Different

One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that's

trying to make you like everyone else. For research purpose, scientists
placed 5 monkeys in a cage, with a ladder in the middle and bananas on
the top. Every time a monkey went up the ladder, the scientist soaked
the rest of the monkeys with cold water. After a while, whenever a
monkey attempted to climb the ladder, others would beat him up. After
some time, no monkey dared go up the ladder regardless of the
temptation. Scientists then decided to replace one of the monkeys.

As expected, the new monkey instantly fell for the temptation and was
beaten up by the rest. After several beatings, this new member learnt not
to climb up the ladder even though he never learnt the real reason. Then,
a second monkey was brought in and the same thing happened. The first
monkey participated in the beating of the second monkey.

The replacements continued, until only a group of 5 monkeys were left in

the cage. Even though the new group of monkeys never received a cold
shower, they continued to beat up any monkey that attempted to climb
the ladder. If you asked any of the new monkeys why the beatings took
place, the answer would probably be, “Well, how do I know. I guess that's
how things are done around here!"

You will never influence the world if you continue doing things the way
they have always been done. Be different. Create chaos. Leave an echo
behind!
A Short Story : Children are Wiser than Elders

Leo Tolstoy was a great writer. He was a Russian. Tolstoy was a

man of peace. He wrote many good stories. Each story has a
valuable moral. Some of his stories are log. And some of his stories
are short. The following is one of his stories. It is written in simple
English for your sake.

It was rainy season in Russia. In a certain village in Russia the rain

water was flowing in streams in a street. It had rained and stopped
a little while ago. Two little girls were playing in the street water. It
was festival time. They were wearing ne w frocks. Malasha was the
younger of the two little girls. Akulya was the older girl.

Malasha stamped her foot in the water. It was a little muddy. The
muddy water splashed. It fell on Akulya’s new frock. Akulya was just
rubbing out the mud. At that time Akulya’s mother was walking that
way. She looked at her daughter’s dress. She scolded her daughter.

“How can you make your new dress so dirty?" she asked.

“Malasha splashed the water on me, mother," said Akuly a.

Akulya’s mother caught Malasha. She gave two or three slaps on the
back of Malasha. Malasha started weeping loudly. Malasha’s house
was close by. Malasha’s mother heard her daughter Malasha’s
weeping. She came out in hurry.

“Why are you weeping?" asked her mother.

“Akulya’s mother beat me on my back," said Malasha.

Malasha’s mother turned to Akulya’s mother in an angry mood.

Malasha’s mother abused Akulya’s mother. Soon they started
quarrelling loudly. They called each other names. Their shouting
continued.

Other women joined them soon. Some supported Akulya’s mother.

Some supported Malasha’s mother. The two fighting groups became
bigger and bigger. The men also joined in the fighting. The quarrel
became never ending.

At that time the grandmother of Akulya came out of the house. She
told the men and the women not to fight. “It is festival time. People
should not quarrel," she told them.

No one listened to her. No one cared for her words. In the meantime
Malasha and Akulya
forgot about their quarrel. They became friends again. They moved
away from the fighting crowd. They started letting paper boats in
the running water. Now the old woman said to the fighting groups.

“Look at the children. They have forgotten their quarrel. They have
started playing again. They have become friends again. But you men
and women still keep quarrelling. Are you not ashamed of your
tendency?"

The men and the women looked at the little girls. They felt
ashamed. They went back to their houses quietly.

Children forget and forgive very easily. The elders learnt this lesson
from the little girls.
