NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL DEWORMING

DAY ROUND 2

January 24, 2017, the Department of Health in coordination with the

Department of Education through the Health and Nutrition Center
simultaneously held the National School Deworming Day Round 2 to all public
schools in the Philippines. In line with this program, Ampianga Elementary
School effectively conducted the said activity. This is to increase the number of
dewormed school children and to ensure that more children will be spared from
parasitism for better health and school performance.

As to the conduct of the deworming there are phases to be followed to

guarantee it will be safely done. The phase 1 or pre – implementation wherein
we conducted a general PTA meeting to explain and convince parents to let their
children deworm, the printing of needed materials like parent consent, and the
screening of eligible pupils for deworming. The phase 2 - implementation or the
deworming day, through the initiative of the teachers the school was able to
provide the children with feeding in which menu is rice, vegetables and fish. The
school tapped parents to cook for the prepared food, the active parents
voluntarily prepared for the food. We conducted hand washing, feeding, tooth
brushing and at 10:00 in the morning simultaneous intake of Albendazole tablet
well done, and the observation for any adverse effects. The phase 3 – post
implementation, the making, consolidating and sending of school reports.
In our school, 135 pupils were elligible for deworming and 135 (100%) were
successfully dewormed.
