A’Breya Young

Ms. Wilson
English II
2-1-2019

In A Dozen Key Chains, Ardesher’s opened a restaurant however business was very little. At a

family gather his mother scrutinized her son’s character for pooping behind the curtains at a

young age. This resulted in Ardesher feeling ashamed of his actions as a child, which

diminished his self esteem. The passage states, “ Well, what do you expect from someone who

poops behind the curtains”. This indicates that Ardesher’s bad behavior as a child is still

associated with the perception of himself toward his family members. The text then states ,” As

much as Ardesheer has suffered from his reputation, my older brother Farshid continues to

thrive on his”. This demonstrates that Ardesheer is still known for his “dirty deeds”, which is why

other family members take precaution in what they do in life in order to maintain a positive

reputation. Overall, Ardesher’s mother’s comment on her son character diminished his already

very little confidence because of his bad reputation
