Dear CEA Internship Placement Coordinator,

I’m writing to you regarding an internship placement in Dublin, Ireland for the Spring of 2018. After
thoroughly reviewing the listed internship career fields, I have concluded that my interests and skills align
perfectly to intern at a Non-Profit Organization, focusing on the administration tasks. As a junior Global
Supply Chain and Operations Management student at the University of South Carolina, in addition to my
focus on process improvement and global supply chain design, I have acquired skills in accounting, finance,
marketing, and management. Since my GSCOM courses focus on the expanding global marketplace, I am
eager to experience first-hand how businesses are conducted overseas.

Currently I hold a 3.98 GPA, but to me this number simply displays my potential to make a difference in as
many people’s lives as possible. In other words, I aspire to utilize my knowledge from the Darla Moore
School of Business to help others. Combining my academic business background and my lust to assist
others, I would be an ideal candidate to intern at a Non-Profit Organization in Dublin. During the Summer
of 2011, I was selected to traveled with People to People as a Student Ambassador to France, Italy, and
Greece because of my leadership displayed in and outside of the classroom. My role was to represent
America well, while learning to accept and understand cultural differences. This is when I fell in love with
traveling, and Europe specifically. When choosing where to study and intern abroad, I knew I was destine to
go back to Europe, but Ireland specifically because my ancestors are from Cork County. I know I will feel at
home, especially if I am given the opportunity to intern with an organization whose mission statement
incorporates serving others.

My desire to make a difference truly developed after spending two summers volunteering at orphanages in
both Costa Rica and Ecuador. Those eye-opening experiences improved my international communication
skills and taught me how to adapt to a new culture. Following those two summers, my longing to make a
difference continued to grow, so I joined a community service sorority at UofSC. While my only requirement
was to complete a set amount of service hours each semester, I sought a leadership position. As the
Easterseals Disability Services Senior Officer, my task was to raise money for the organization. During my
term, I created, planned and hosted several unique fundraising events, geared towards college students. Not
only was I named “Most Impactful Sister,” this position provided me with valuable lessons on managing
volunteers, tracking finances, and executing a plan.

Moreover, there’s still an abundant amount of information I’m eager to acquire from this internship. On top
of improving my basic communication, planning, managing and fundraising skills, I hope to learn more
about marketing communications and budget management. Also, I’m interested in observing how a Non-
Profit Organization functions overall.

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may have regarding my internship interests! I
truly appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Olivia Bracy
