Axial Turbine

Inferences:

 Pressure decrease is nearly linear for smaller hub to tip ratio, but a tremendous increase for hub to
tip ratio close to one. Therefore, the optimum hub to tip ratio can be chosen close to one.
 Mass flow rate decreases as the Hub to tip ratio increases. Therefore, a smaller Hub to tip ratio is
chosen.
 Therefore, the optimum Hub to tip ratio can be chosen in between 0.85 and 0.9

Note:

 Mass flow rate is the non-dimensional quantity.

 Sigma_b is defined is called as stress factor
 Hub to tip ratio after 0.95 are giving complex values which might be out of the design parameters.
Inference:

 Change in tangential velocity (flow coefficient) is decreasing with radius ratio.

 Assuming U is same for 2 and 3(entrance of rotor and exit of rotor)
Inferences:

 For degree of reaction R=0.5, the obtained Radius ratio is nearly 0.8616.
 The above value is very close to the mean radius 0.5*(0.7204 + 1) = 0.8602
