SKIT ABOUT DEPRESSION

Alyssa (INTRODUCTION): Good morning everyone! We are the group 1 and we are going to
present to you our skit about depression entitled “Hello,Goodbye” As you watch our
presentation, observe the types of speech context in every scene. The types of speech
context includes Intrapersonal Speech Context which is about communicating with oneself
or engaging in inner talk, Interpersonal Speech Context which is about talking to other
people and lastly, Public Communication which is about talking to a crowd (exactly, what I
am doing right now). With these, let us begin our presentation.

Gelo (NARRATOR): Let me introduce you, Joshua and Maxine. They have a relationship for
almost 2 years. On that 2 years, they were both doing well. But what if their relationship
doen’t last? What will happen to the both of them?

I. COFFEE SHOP AND SIDEWALK PARK (Joshua and Maxine)

Joshua and Maxine are in a coffee shop. They greeted each other and ask how
they’ve been doing for the past few days. They were both happy to see each
other again. After a short conversation, they went outside and suddenly, Daga’s
car (with Eric inside) passed by and they both greeted the lovers. Maxine was
surprised with the sudden greeting by Joshua’s friends so her belongings
accidentally fell to the ground. Joshua, being so enthusiastic that he saw his
friends, didn’t notice that Maxine’s supplies fell. Maxine was dismayed because of
the ungentlemanly act of Joshua.
II. BUMP AT FIRST SIGHT (Wency and Maxine)
Wency was running to make it to the Jeepney. Maxine was walking at that time
while reading her notes. Suddenly, Wency accidentally bump to Maxine so
Maxine’s materials was scattered on the floor. Wency helped her to pick up her
things and says sorry again and again. Wency, being a good person, treats Maxine
to a fast food restaurant. Maxine agrees to go. Maxine was impressed with the
gentleman act of Wency.

III. THE PICTURE (Bossing and Gelo)

After a while, Bossing and Gelo passed by to that fast food restaurant and saw
Maxine with other guy laughing so hardly. Bossing and Gelo was a friend of
Joshua. They knew that Maxine and Joshua was in a strong relationship so
Bossing took a picture of the two as an evidence of what he saw. Gelo agrees
with it.

IV. BESTFRIENDS (Maxine, Alex, and Alyssa)

As Maxine, Alex and Alyssa was walking, Maxine confessed that she doesn’t have
feelings for Joshua anymore. She was infatuated with Wency and in fact, they
were seeing each other many times. She also proudly said that she will be
breaking up with Joshua. Alex and Alyssa, being a concerned friend, warns
Maxine of the possibilities of her decision. But Maxine was sure of her decision.
She thinks that it’s time to break up with Joshua since Joshua doesn’t have time
for her and was being cold.

V. THE PICTURE AS AN EVIDENCE (Bossing, Gelo and Joshua)

Bossing called Joshua and told him that he and Gelo saw Maxine with another
guy. So they meet up and Bossing lend his phone to Joshua. Joshua called Maxine
and ask if they may see each other at the coffee shop.

VI. THE BREAK UP (Joshua and Maxine)

Maxine was called by Joshua saying that they should meet at the coffee shop. She
takes it as an opportunity for their break-up. Joshua came and they talk about the
picture. They argue and argue until they reached their limits. Maxine broke up
with Joshua. Joshua cannot believe that after 2 years, they broke up because of a
third party.

VII. DRINKING SESSION (Daga, Joshua, Gelo, Bossing, Eric)

Joshua didn’t know what to do so he called his friends and they did have a
drinking session. While drinking, Joshua narrates all of the good memories him
and Maxine shared. His friends were comforting him. After a few hours, they
decided to go home and Joshua was left alone.

VIII. LONELINESS WHERE DEPRESSION IS PRESENT (Joshua, Eric and Daga)

Joshua was drunk and was talking to himself. He feel that he is worthless. He also
talks about his family problems and he cannot take it anymore. He reminisce all
the good memories alone and plans to commit suicide for him to attain peace.

Suddenly, Eric forgot his cellphone on the table where they have their drinking
session. He went back with Daga. When they returned, they exactly saw that
Joshua was on top of a chair planning to commit suicide. They immediately
stopped him. After that, Joshua was awakened. His friends stayed with him and
they give him wisdom.

IX. AFTER 2 MONTHS (Alex, Joshua and Friends)

Alex and Alyssa saw Joshua and ask him how he has been. They chichat for a short time.
After that, Joshua’s friends came and they were happily jamming. Joshua excelled in
everything that he does and he was happy with his friends.

Gelo(Narrator): Lost love. A lot of people around us have been struggling with
relationship anxiety lately. Depression is a disorder that is evidenced by excessive sadness,
loss of interest in enjoyable things, and low motivation. It is normal to experience feelings of
sadness and despair in response to adverse life events. In most cases, the sad feelings
resolve as you come to terms with the changes in your life. Always remember, suicide
doesn’t end the pain, it just passes it on to someone else. Once you choose hope, better
things and opportunities will come. We should keep on living our life.
