Melissa Checco is an excellent candidate for your school. In the years I have had the pleasure of knowing
and working with her, she has proven to be a person of integrity and character. She discerns thoroughly
and thoughtfully, and she gives her heart and soul to every task set before her.

In the fall of 2014, Melissa joined my production team for the University of Delaware’s Fall Musical, The
Wedding Singer. Melissa used her unique talents as Costume Director to create a time-period-perfect
ensemble! She worked diligently to borrow, rent, and create the pieces needed for this production.
Without her input and work ethic, the production quality would not be as excellent as it was. Melissa is an
imperative asset to any team, and contributes above and beyond what is expected.

As a fellow Education major, I watched and worked with Melissa on two student case studies for
EDUC205. This practicum experience allowed her to work with two students, a female in seventh grade
and a male in second grade, at The College School in Newark, Delaware. The College School serves
students in first through eighth grade who demonstrate learning, attention, mild social/emotional, and/or
mild behavioral issues. She met with the seventh grader twice a week for private math tutoring and the
second grader in reading. After each lesson, Melissa wrote thoughtful reflections on the students’
behavior and cognitive skills. This practicum allowed Melissa to foster meaningful relationships with
these special students, as she built their content knowledge and confidence. In summative, she skillfully
analyzed both students’ progress throughout their sixteen weeks together.

Because of Melissa’s solid content knowledge, her responsibility, and her commitment to working with
young people, I am confident she will be a valuable addition to any school’s Math department. Please feel
