I. O B J E C T I V E S

Specific Objective. Generate your own list of tips on how to become a good listener
II. A C T I V I T Y S P E C I F I C S

1. In groups with four members each (by class number), create an Information Map by thinking of your own
examples or tips on how to become a good listener.

2. The tips should provide words or verbs that start with the letters, L, I, S, T, E, N, I, N, and G.
Example:

L- ook interested
I- nvolve yourself by responding
S- tay on target
T- est your understanding
E- valuate the message
N- eutralize the message
I- nhibit yourself from distractions
N- ab every opportunity for listening
G- et the important points made

3. Each verb or word should not be synonymous with one another; they should not contain the same idea.

4. To make sure that all ideas are different from one another, provide a two-three sentence explanation of how
exactly each tip should be executed.
Example: I- nhibit yourself from distractions. One of the reasons why a person would most likely encounter
Problems in listening is because he/she might actually be
Busy or preoccupied with other things aside from the
conversation at hand.

5. The group should also use illustrations in enhancing the Information Map.

6. The members’ names, in alphabetical order, should be placed at the back of the paper.

7. All outputs of the class should be submitted to the class president to be compiled in a transparent folder with
the same color as the class recitation cards.

8. Submission date is tomorrow 12-1 pm. (COMMERCE FACULTY- Please look for Ms. Shirlene Bayona or Mr.
Franklin Prieto)
III. F O R M A T A N D C R I T E R I A F O R G R A D I N G

1. The Output should be computerized on a short bond paper in landscape orientation, a font style and size of
your choice, and with illustrations that are appropriate in encapsulating the ideas but not overpowering the
discussions.
2. Each tip will be graded one (1) point each while explanations will be evaluated two (2) points each.
3. Illustrations will also be graded one point only if it goes well with the idea it should be representing.
4. The activity is a total of forty (40) points.
5. Note: You cannot use the idea I have specified in my sample.
