Soundscape Proposal

Greyhouse Coffee Shop

I would like to record my soundscape project in my home-town. I am from Lafayette

Indiana and I want to record at one of my favorite coffeeshops on the Purdue University campus.

I have been to this coffeeshop many times and it is one of the most relaxing places. I am

comfortable in this space. I know that they play music there and that there will be many students

there studying and working on homework. Because Purdue is such a big university, I am

expecting to hear accents or maybe even different languages. I know I will hear the different

sounds of the coffeeshop as well. I plan to go and observe over Millikin’s fall break. I will have

ample time to get a lot of material. I hope to find things that I don’t necessarily expect. It would

be ideal to hear three different languages and maybe some hidden rhythms, like people tapping

on the table or humming.
