Research Question: To verify Ohm’s Law

Background Theory
According to Ohm’s law, V is directly proportional to I where ‘V’ is the
voltage and ‘I’ is the current flowing through the wire
V=I*R
where
V is the terminal voltage of the circuit.
I is the current flowing through the wire
R is the resistance to the flow of current

Variables:
Independent : Current
Dependent : Voltage
Controlled : Power Supply, Resistance, type of wire

Apparatus:
Resistance
Crocodile clips
Copper wires
Ammeter
Voltmeter
Rheostat
Battery

1.Procedure
2.Connect the circuit diagram as shown in the diagram
3.Adjust rheostat to the extreme where the current is the lowest
possible
4.Measure the current and voltage.
5.Use the rheostat to adjust the current
6.Repeat steps 2 and 3 while you reach the other extreme of the
current
7.Plot the data on a V-I graph, with I on the x axis and and V on the y
axis.
8.Draw a straight line of best fit that passes through the origin.
y2 − y1
9.Calculate the slope of the graph using !
x2 − x1
10. Calculate the resistance using the inverse of the slope
