Manual Biostar 2

Adding a User

1. Click on the User page.

2. Click Add User.


3. At the top of the window, you can add basic information such as the user's name, email
address, ID number, and phone number, among others.
4. Click Apply to save your settings.
Enrolling Fingerprints

1. In a user's settings, under Credential, click the "Fingerprint" button.

2. Select the device that you want to enroll with in the Device dropdown menu. If you are
suing a BioMini, ensure that you have installed its driver and that the USB Device Agent
is running. A download link for the USB device agent can be found in BioStar's settings
under USB Agent.
3. Beside Quality, you can set the enrollment quality. Any enrollment score below the one
selected will be rejected. The default enrollment quality is 80. If needed, based on the
user's enrollment experience, you can set the quality to 40 or 60.
4. To add a fingerprint, click Add. Up to 10 fingerprints can be added per user.
5. To enroll a finger, click Scan.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen. If fingerprints are enrolled incorrectly, fingerprint
authentication may become inconsistent and very difficult.
7. When you have at least two fingers scanned, you can select duress fingers that will set
off silent alarms when used to authenticate by using the checkbox under
the Validate button.
8. When you are finished scanning fingerprints, click Enroll.
9. To save your settings, click Apply.
Adding a Card

1. In a user's settings, under Credential, click on the "Card" button.

2. In the Card Type dropdown, select the card type that you want to add.
3. In the Card Data Format dropdown, select the format of the card you want to add.
4. In the Registration Option dropdown, you can choose to read the card information from a
device, to assign it from a previously read card, or to enter the information manually.
a. If you select the first option, make sure to select with device you are using in
the Device dropdown. Only devices that can read the selected card type will appear.
Ensure that the Wiegand settings of the device match that of your card or the device
won't be able to read it. Then, click Read Card and place your card near the reader.
5. Once you have obtained your card information, click Enroll.
6. To save your settings, click Apply.
Adding a User Group

1 Click USER.

Right-click on All User Groups and click Add User Group.

▪ User groups may be created in up to 8 levels.
▪ Up to 48 characters may be entered for a user group name.

Transferring User Information to Device

You can transfer user information registered with BioStar 2 to devices.

1) Select a user to transfer and click Transfer to Device.


Select the Overwrite users with different information option to overwrite duplicate

3) Select devices to transfer the information to. Click to search for a device.
4) Click Transfer to transfer the user information.

TIME ATTANDANCE

You can set the time code, time segment for time code, schedule template, and overtime
rule. These are the main components of T&A management.

TIME CODE

You can set the time code to be used for worktime calculation. It can be set for T&A
records, time code for overtime, and time code for vacation management.
You can assign and use a different time rate for each time code.

1) Click TIME ATTENDANCE > Shift > Time Code.


2) Click ADD TIME CODE and set each item.

3) To save settings, click Apply. To add a service rule, click Apply & Add Shift.

SHIFT

You can create a shift by applying a different time code for each hour based on a
24 hour cycle. You can select either a fixed working shift or flexible working shift,
and you can set the start time of day and ding rule.

Click TIME ATTENDANCE > Shift >

Set the shift type. The detailed setting varies according to
the shift type.

3 Type Fixed: You can set the fixed service to attend and leave

Flexible: You can set the flexible service with no fixed

4 Day Start Time Set the start time of day.
When Yes is set, the first user authentication time is
recorded as check-in time, and the last user
authentication time is recorded as check-out time.

Break by Punch should be set for recording the us’s
break time.
When Fixed is selected for Type,

Select the salary code set as T&A record and then set
Start time, End time and Min. Duration. You can also
set Grace and Automatic meal deduction. When setting
is finished, click Add.

You can only add one time code set as Attendance
▪ management to the service rule.
For the time code set as Overtime management, you
▪ can only set Start time and End time.

When Flexible is selected for Type,


Select the total daily service time, and then select the
salary code.
You can also set Punch in Time limit and Automatic
meal deduction. When setting is finished, click Add.

Note
If Flexible is selected for Type, the overtime service
▪ salary code cannot be added.
You can set the time rounding rule. Unit is the time to
round off to and Point is the time to apply rounding off.
For example, 10 minutes are set for Unit and 7 minutes
are set for Point, an event occurring at 8:05 is considered
to have occurred at 8 and an event occurring at 8:08 is
considered to have occurred at 8:10.
Select the item which you intend to use, and then set Unit
and Point.

7 Rounding Punch in: You can set the rounding rule to process the
registered time when an attendance event is registered
▪ earlier/later than the set start time.
Punch out: You can set the rounding rule to process the
registered time when a leave event is registered
▪ earlier/later than the set end time.

Rounding applies in preference
▪ to Grace.
When Break by Punch is used, break/break end should
be registered on the time & attendance registration device

when a user takes a break during working hours.
When Break by Punch is activated, Max. allowed break
time can be set.

When First check-in & Last check-out is activated,


Handle Exception of Fixed Break/Meal T&A Key can be
set. When this option is used, the break and meal events
registered first and last on the time & attendance
registration device using a fixed event will be ignored.

3. To save settings, click Apply. To add a schedule template, click Apply &
Add Schedule Template.
Adding Schedule

You can create a service schedule by assigning the set schedule template,
overtime service rule, period, and holiday to a user.
You can also add a temporary schedule or personal vacation to the created service
schedule.

You can create a service schedule for a registered user.

1) Click TIME ATTENDANCE > Schedule.


2) Click Add and set each item.

Select the set overtime rule.
When the overtime rule is set, the overtime service

Select the set schedule template.

4 Schedule Template
If there is no desired schedule template, set one by
referring to the Schedule Template.
▪ Once schedule template is set, it cannot be changed.
Set the period to collect T&A events.

Note
5 Period Once the start date is set, it cannot be changed. The
end date can be changed, and when it is changed to a
date which is earlier than the set date, leave events
for the changed period will be deleted.
Select the set vacation schedule. If you do not wish
use it, set None.

6 Holiday Note
If there is no desired vacation schedule, add a
▪ vacation schedule by referring to the Schedule.
7 User Add a user to apply the rule.

3) To save settings, click Apply.
