My childhood

Nandor Mălăcea

During my childhood, life seemed to be very easy and pleasant and I remember having
almost no worries at all.
When I think about the time I was in the first grades, one of the first things that pops out
into my mind is that I was doing a lot of sport. I used to play at a basketball club about
two or three times a week. Besides, I remember playing football in the park almost
every day. A typical day of school was much shorter as we were usually on our way
home at 12 or 1 o’clock. I also don’t remember spending too much studying. Nowadays,
I spend more time at school and at home sitting on a chair which clearly is not good for
my health.
Secondly, I remember spending a lot of time with my older cousin who has been living
in Belgium for a few years now. I believe that, as a child, it is important to have relatives
who have almost the same age as you do, like siblings or cousins, because it is easy to
interact with them.
Finally, I remember all the cartoons that I used to watch and the toys I used to own, toys
which were inspired by some of those cartoons and were very popular among children
of my age. We used to imagine ourselves being those characters we used to watch and
having their superpowers.
Nowadays, things have changed, from what I see. A lot of children prefer playing
different games on their smartphones or tablets which, in my opinion, is not only sad,
but also destructive for the children’s creative development.
All these being said, I would say that I had a great childhood which left me with a lot of
great memories.
