Recyling/Composting:
What should a 0 be?
-​ ​They don’t recycle or compost at all.
What should a 1 be?
-​ ​They do the bare minimum, maybe they have one bin for each but they don’t make it
easily accessible.
What should a 2 be?
-T ​ hey may have a few bins and a few signs for recycling and composting but not
enough
for it to be utilized consistently.
What should a 3 be?
-T ​ hey excel in one category but fall short on the other. Ex: they have a pretty good
composting system, have a couple organic bins clearly labelled however they have few
recycling bins and they’re not easily accessible, and aren’t checking their garbages to
ensure people are putting things in the right place.
What should a 4 be?
-T ​ hey excel in most of their recycling system but about ¼ of their system falls short .
Ex: they have all the right bins clearly labelled but they don’t ever sort through their
garbage to ensure everything is in the right place.

What should a 5 be?
-T ​ hey have multiple bins for both recycling and composting that are clearly labelled and
easily accessible as they are placed all throughout the establishment. They have their
staff check/sort through the bins regularly

Single Use Plastics:


What should a 0 be?
-​ ​They use single use plastics a lot and they do not offer an alternative..
What should a 1 be?
-T ​ hey use very inefficient alternatives and make them near impossible for customers to
use.
What should a 2 be?
-T ​ hey have some alternatives but make them inconvenient to obtain for their
clients/customers.
What should a 3 be?
- ​They have alternatives and display them but don’t encourage their customers to use
them.
What should a 4 be?
-T ​ hey have alternatives and they encourage their customers to use them.
What should a 5 be?
​ hey do not use single use plastic and they only use alternatives.

Unnecessary Packaging:
What should a 0 be?
-​ ​Ridiculous amounts of unnecessary packaging are used on their products and none of
them are re-usable and they’ve made no efforts to change their packaging.
What should a 1 be?
-S ​ till continuing to use incredible amounts of unnecessary packaging but will
occasionally re-use some of their boxes , bags, etc.
What should a 2 be?
-M ​ ost of their products contain great amounts of unnecessary packaging but they’re
somewhat attempting to use less.
What should a 3 be?
-T ​ hey have attempted to phase out most of their unnecessary packaging but still have
quite a way to go.
What should a 4 be?
-T ​ hey take strides to not use unnecessary packaging but there are still some minor
improvements to be made.
What should a 5 be?
-​ ​They use suppliers that do not use unnecessary packaging and strive to be
environmentally friendly by using eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging.

Overall Eco-Friendliness:
What should a 0 be?
-​ ​They are violating environmental laws or they make no attempts at all to use
eco-friendly products or processes in their business.
What should a 1 be?
-T ​ hey have not violated any laws but they do not apply any regulations or policies
beyond the law
What should a 2 be?
- ​The do apply some policies to moderate the use of non eco-friendly products but these
are not being applied correctly
What should a 3 be?
-​ ​They do apply their eco-friendly policies but this are not enough or need improvement
What should a 4 be?
- ​They have multiple eco-friendly policies but have room for improvements.
What should a 5 be?
- ​They have fully applied their eco-friendly policies and regulations within their
businesses and encourage their consumers and employees to use them
