TITLE: Remote Monitoring and Control System for Water Treatment Facility

PROBLEM:

The world is facing a lot of water problems. One of the major problem that needs an action is
the source of clean drinking water. In remote areas in Philippines, the community gets their supply from
rainfall, surface water resources and ground water resources. Some of these water sources contains
elements that can have a negative effect not only to humans but also to other living organism.

CURRENT SOLUTION:

There are several projects that addresses to water problems in the Philippines. There are
portable water purifier that are available in markets.

CONCEPT:

Clean water sources is essential for the healthy growing community. This project aims to
improve the water treatment facility with a monitoring and control system. The researcher will develop
a program that can monitor some characteristics of water, like the temperature and the pH level that
can help to assess it the water is suitable for drinking. The program will be associated to a water purifier
device. This project will be implemented not only in remote areas but also can be used in times of
calamity like flood to provide a clean drinking water. The device will have several sensor along the water
purifier to test whether the water is suitable for drinking. The device will have light indicators that
signals if the water is purified.
