IV. LEARNING PROCESS


A. REVIEW: Review of Filipino opera music composers. (Show pictures of the composers and there works)
B. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE OF THE LESSON (MOTIVATION):
 Present pictures related to the Philippine opera and ask them what they know about the pictures.
 Play/sing a music of an opera or music related to the opera (Phantom of the Opera theme)
C. PRESENTING EXAMPLES/ INSTANCES OF THE LESSON: Let them watch excerpts of the different operas of the Philippines:
Noli Me Tangere, La Loba Negra, and El Filibusterismo.
D. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS # 1:
 Listening Activities about Philippine opera:
1. Play musical excerpts from the arias of Noli Me Tangere, La Loba Negra, and El Filibusterismo.
2. Let them analyse the music and take note of the elements of music present, such as rhythm, melody, tempo and dynamics, texture and
harmony, form, and timbre.
3. Let them write it down on a paper.
 Discuss the elements of an opera
E. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS #2:
Singing Activity: The Philippine Opera
1. Divide the class into groups. Each group will be assigned to learn and sing in class an aria from any of the Philippine opera discussed
in class: (La Loba Negra - Napakahaba na ng Gabi) (Noli Me Tangere - Kay Tamis ng Buhay, Huwag Mo Akong Pabayaan, Awit ng Gabi
ni Sisa)
2. Let them practice singing the assigned aria with their group mates, using the lyrics that they had researched:
F. DEVELOPING MASTERY: Let the students perform a short excerpt of the following Philippine opera:
1. La Loba Negra 2. Noli Me Tangere 3. El Filibusterismo
G.FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS AND LIVING:
 Allow the learners to relate the said operas to the Philippine history.
 Let the learners create an opera based on their everyday living.
 Moro-Moro and Senakulu

 Let the learners formulate generalizations.
