Chapter 1 General when applying the Eurocodes
(SS-EN 1990 to SS-EN 1999)

Section 1 According to section 1.4 of the Swedish Road Administration's regulations (VVFS)
2004: 31) on bearing capacity, charter and durability
construction works on roads and streets
European standards transferred to Swedish standards (SS-
EN) and that provides methods for verifying building works
bearing capacity, charter and durability are used as
alternative or supplement to what is prescribed in it
Constitution.

2 § 2 This regulation states which nationally elected

parameters that apply to the application of SS-EN-
versions of the Eurocodes in Sweden. The Constitution provides
this chapter regulations that apply when applying
all Eurocodes and in the following chapters
regulations or general advice for the application of
standards according to table 1.

Section 3 Unless otherwise stated in this statute

the standards for the applications listed in section 1.1
Scope, in each standard when construction works are erected.

§ 4 In those cases no regulations for a Eurocode part issued

as Swedish standard has been established in this statute applies
the regulations in the Swedish Road Administration's regulations (VVFS 2004: 31) on
bearing capacity, charter and durability of construction at
construction works on roads and streets. (VVFS 2005: 48)

Section 5 Unless otherwise stated for each standard in

the following chapters are the paragraphs that are in the standard
marked with the letter P (principles) after the designation number
considered to be regulations and other paragraphs (advice) shall be considered

may be feared to arise in the event of a building part,

the construction part is attributed to one of the following
security classes:

- safety class 1 (low), low risk of serious personal injury

Dor,
- safety class 2 (normal), no risk of serious per-
sonskador,
- safety class 3 (high), high risk of serious personal injury
dor.

Section 8 Building parts may be assigned to safety class 1,

if at least one of the following requirements is met:

- persons only stay in exceptional cases in, on, during or

next to the building works,
- the construction part is of such a kind that a crime does not
can reasonably be feared to cause personal injury, or
- the construction part has such properties as a break
does not lead to collapse but only to usability.

Section 9 Building parts shall be assigned to safety class 3,

if the following conditions exist simultaneously:

- The construction works are so designed and used that many

people often stay in, on, during or near it,
- the construction part is of such a kind that collapse entails
high risk of injury, and
- the construction part has such properties as a break
leads to immediate collapse. (VVFS 2005: 48)

Section 3 Building parts not covered by sections 8 and 9

shall be attributed to the lowest safety class 2.

Advice:

Safety class 3 should be applied at risk for stability

crimes for construction works on the basis of mercury clay,
defined according to SS-EN ISO 14688-2.

Safety class 1 can be applied when

the work does not touch the road surface, e.g. for walking and cycling
roads and some outer slopes.

B Road protection device and traffic control device

up

Safety class 2 should be applied for road protection

and traffic control device if there is risk
because after a crash (collision etc.) it ends up
roadway. In other cases, safety class 1 may apply
pas.

C Bridge

Safety class 2 should be applied for

- for bridges with theoretical span at most equal to
15.0 m in the largest range
- for support walls with a height of less than 4.0 m
- for wing walls
- when determining a pile or pile group
geotechnical carrying capacity
- when determining a platform foundation
bearing capacity in friction ground and on rock.

Other bridges / building parts should be assigned

safety class 3.

For other construction works, applicable parts apply

advice under A - C. (TRVFS 2011: 12)

Section 11 When designing with the partial coefficient method in

SS-EN 1990 to SS-EN 1999 in fracture limit state shall

3 § 6 Advice:
Bridges should also be dimensioned for a traffic load such as
is determined according to the rules of EN 1991-2, 4.3 with the following
changes.

Traffic load with type vehicles according to Appendix 3 with A equal

with 180 kN and B equal to 300 kN. It even
widespread load q is 0 or 5 kN / m and is even
distributed over the width of the load field. Each carrier part
is calculated for the type vehicle that produces the most unfavorable
impact.

The axles of the type vehicle are always centrally located within
load bar. The transverse pressure of the wheel pressure is 0.3 m and
in the longitudinal direction 0.2 m. The center distance between the wheel pressures
is assumed to vary arbitrarily between 1.7 m and 2.3 m.

The number and location of the loading field is chosen in each case
so that adverse effects are obtained. Number of cargo fields
with type vehicles is a maximum of two. One cargo type type vehicle
is multiplied by the factor 1.0 and the second load field
type vehicles with a factor of 0.8. Other cargo fields have an even
distributed load q. This can be 0 or 5 kN / m
and is evenly distributed over the width of the load field.

Dynamic addition ε is added to all point loads. The

environment means surfaces within the marked frame in figure a
as well as surfaces of pylons and arches down to 2.0 m below
the top of the bridge lane. Top surfaces on bridge tracks
and busy bottom plates which are provided with
layers are not considered to be in the road environment.

Concrete surfaces that are directly exposed to saline salts should be carried out
in the exposure classes XD3 and XF4. With soil against
filled back sides of concrete walls in road environment can be carried out
in the exposure class XD1.

a The maximum value in the range is used above and near the tree boundary. The second highest in highland forest terrain in
the western parts of the municipality. The lowest value is used in low-lying terrain in eastern parts of the municipality.
Possibly other values are used in low-lying terrain in the municipality's western parts and in the rest of the municipality
parts. See also the snow zone map in appendix 1a. In case of doubtful cases, SMHI should be consulted.
b The upper value in the range applies to higher ground. See also the snow zone map in appendix 1a. In doubt
cases, the highest value is selected.
For both note a and b, the general rule of thumb is that the amount of snow increases by about 15% per 100 m height increase.
(TRVFS 2011: 12)

47 The lower value has changed.
