Script:

Gregory and Oliver run onto stage panting

Gregory: Well here we are in America

Oliver: I wish mum and dad were still here though.

Gregory: Yeah, its a real shame.

Oliver: Gregory I’m soooooo tired.

Gregory: Lets just sleep for now.

Dreamy music plays

Geneva: On December 2nd in 1940, Gregory and Oliver Scott, two poor british brothers,
were playing in the dock yard.
Goofing
Geneva: Suddenly, air raid sirens started to scream.
Air raid sirens go off, brothers look up, confused
Geneva: The boys had experienced several bombings but never without guidance from
their parents.

Oliver: Gregory what should we do!

Gregory: Let’s try to make it back to the house.

Geneva: The boys set off running trying to navigate the chaos surrounding them.

They run, panicked, across the stage.

Oliver: Gregory! Where are you?!

Gregory: Oliver, I’m right behind you, you silly lad!

Gregory: I don’t think we are going to make it back home in time.


Geneva: The boys quickly realize they have find shelter. They head to a nearby tube
station, as their parents had taught them.

Sound of bombs raining down on boys.

Geneva: Although the boys were frightened they did not feel a great sense of panic, their
parents had taught them to keep calm and carry on.

They rock back and forth, scared.

Geneva: They waited in the tube station for hours upon hours until suddenly, there was an
eerie silence outside. The boys crawled out of their hiding space and out into the dark and
dust ridden London streets.

They crawl out from the table.

Geneva: The boys find their way back home, but are devastated when they see the pile of
rubble that used to be their house. Their parents are nowhere to be seen. Sadness envelopes
the boys hearts as the realization that they are now orphans hits them.

The boys look sad.

Oliver: WHERE ARE MUMMY AND DADDY

Gregory: They’re gone, Oliver. We have to get out of here before they bomb us again!

Oliver: Where will we go brother?

Gregory: We’ve got to get to America, where its safe.

The boys run off.

Geneva: They hide in a crate on a cargo ship headed for America.

Oliver: I’m so scared.

Gregory: Remember, Oliver. Keep calm…

Oliver: And carry on.


Geneva: The boys hide for days, telling stories, playing games, and crying.

Boys do those things.

Geneva: One morning, the boys wake up to the sound of seagulls.

Boys sneak out of the crate.

Geneva: They sneak past the sailors and take their first steps in New York City.

Boys look around and Oliver points.

Oliver: What’s that big green lady, Gregory?

Gregory: I don’t know.

Geneva: The boys spend rest of the day wandering and trying to learn American accents.

Gregory: (very American) Tater tots.

Oliver: Cheeseburger.

Geneva: While swiping an apple from a vendor, they’re spotted. The vendor runs after
them.

Boys run.

Geneva: Once they lose him, the boys turn into an alleyway.

Gregory: Well here we are in America

Oliver: I wish mum and dad were still here though.

Gregory: Yeah, its a real shame.

Oliver: Gregory I’m soooooo tired.

Gregory: Lets just sleep for now.
