DESCRIPTION
The treatment of iron and steel with BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE
provides a crystalline manganese phosphate coating which increases the resistance to wear
and corrosion (according to US specification MIL-P-16232-B).
BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE phosphate coats are highly absorptive
and when saturated with suitable oils have proven to be extremely effective in eliminating
scuffing, galling, pick-up and localized welding between moving parts, especially during "run-in".
The 575 process finds application in a wide variety of parts covered by the automotive, diesel
engine and aerospace industry.
The costs of using BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE depends on a
number of conditions especially the nature of the parts to be processed. Besides "drag out"
factors the conditions of the parts i.e. whether it is rusty, type of soiling plays an important
deciding factor on the consumption of chemicals and also the quality of the final expected
finish.
In general one kilogram of BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE will treat
approximately 11 square metres of surface area.
USE DIRECTIONS
The selection of the appropriate cleaners and processing sequences depends largely upon the
lubrication demands for the part and upon the size and shape as well as the number of parts to
be treated. The recommendation as outlined is for a general situation and our Henkel
Technologies Technical Representative will recommend the treatment system that will fulfil the
demands that are expected.

BATH CONTROL
Free Acidity
Total Acidity
b. Upkeep
Concentration
Product upkeep additions are made by adding BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE
PHOSPHATE to the bath. To increase by 1 point the solution total acidity, add 154 cc of
BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE to each 100 litres solution.
Free Acidity
If the free acidity is too high, it must be reduced by adding a water manganese
carbonate mixture. To reduce 0.1 point of free acidity add 30 grams of manganese
carbonate to 100 litres solution.
c. % Iron in BONDERITE M-MN 575 MANGANESE PHOSPHATE Solution
In preparing a new MANGANOPHOS phospating bath, steel wool is added. During the
normal operation, the % iron rises to 0.1% - 0.5%. If the bath is not heavily loaded or if it
is used medium production, the control of iron is not necessary. During this type of
operation the % iron will rise to a non-prejudicial amount.

Technical Data Sheet
In case the % iron in the bath reaches a point where managenses phosphate coating
formation becomes slow and insufficient or without adherence, the iron must be
precipitated.
d. Iron Control
Result
When the iron limit is reached, add Hydrogen Peroxide to precipitate an remove a part of
the iron. 125 cc of Hydrogen Peroxide will remove 0.1% of iron in each 100 litres of
solution.
The Hydrogen Peroxide must be diluted with water and mixed together with an equal
weight of managanese carbonate.
