BEHAVIORAL FACTORS
1. I share my knowledge about herbal plants to my friends and acquaintances.
2. I try using herbal planits before consulting the physician.
3. I try using herbal plants before using commercial drugs.
4. Whenever I feel ill, I use herbal plants.
5. I experience that herbal plants are more effective than commercial drugs.
6. I pass my knowledge about herbal plants to my children.

PERSONAL FACTORS
1. I am able to save money by using herbal plants instead of buying medicine from the
pharmacy.
2. Herbal plants were proven effective by my ancestors. Herbal plants have no side effects.
3. I have proven that herbal plants are really effective.
4. Using herbal plants does not require prescription.
5. I didn’t feel any untoward effects after using herbal plants.
6. Commercial medicines are derived from herbal plants.

Behavioral Factors –refers to the behaviors of the people in the Rural community that have a
relationship to the frequency of utilization of herbal plants.

Environmental Factors- refers to the factors concerning the environment that have a relationship to the
frequency of utilization of herbal plants.

Personal Factors- refers to the factors concerning the personality of the residents in the rural
community which have a relationship to the frequency of herbal plants.
Statement of the problem

This paper seeks to know the perception of traditional herbal plants in Barangay Paraiso ,
Calatagan , Batangas.

Specifically, this paper seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of :

1.1 Age;
1.2 Gender;
1.3 Educational Attainment;
1.4 Monthly Income;
1.5 Length of stay in the rural community?
2. What is the perception to utilization of herbal plants by the respondents?
3. What is the utilization of herbal plants by the respondents in terms of :
3.1 Personal factors;
3.2 Behavioral factors and
3.3 Environmental factors?
4. Is there significant relationship between the respondent’s profile and their perception of
utilization of herbal plants?
5. Is there significant relationship between the perception utilization of herbal plants and factors
on utilization?
