Facts  About  Drinking

Learning  Objectives:  

The  students  will  be  able  to…  

• Learn  facts  about  drinking  alcohol.  

• Understand  how  drinking  alcohol  can  affect  people.  

• Understand  how  drinking  can  be  dangerous.  

• Understand  the  negatives  of  underage  drinking.  

• Think  about  what  they  found  interesting  about  the  video.  

• Think  about  how  drinking  alcohol  can  affect  them  personally.  

Learning  Activities:  

(50  minutes  to  1  hour)  

I  will  play  the  video,  “The  Truth  About  Drinking,”  on  the  TV  projector  for  all  of  the  

students  to  see.  This  video  lists  facts  about  drinking  while  using  real  high  school  

students  to  show  how  drinking  can  be  dangerous.  As  the  video  is  playing,  I  will  have  

the  students  begin  filling  out  the  graphic  organizer  by  listing  3  facts  they  hear  in  the  

video.  Once  the  video  is  over,  I  will  give  the  students  10-­‐15  minutes  to  fill  out  the  
last  two  boxes  individually  about  what  they  found  interesting,  and  how  the  video  

made  them  feel.  At  the  end  of  the  time,  we  will  gather  as  a  class  and  discuss  all  of  the  

boxes  the  students  filled  out,  as  well  as  discussing  the  video  more  in  detail.    

Assessment/Evaluation:    

The  students  will  be  informally  evaluated  on  what  information  they  have  learned  

from  the  teacher  tube  video.  The  students  will  be  formally  evaluated  on  their  

understanding  of  facts  about  drinking  alcohol  by  their  completion  of  the  graphic  

organizer  associated  with  the  Teacher  Tube  video:  “The  Truth  About  Drinking.”  

“Facts  About  Drinking,”  graphic  organizer  has  5  boxes  that  correlates  with  the  video,  

and  students  will  demonstrate  their  understanding  by  following  along  with  the  

video  and  filling  out  each  of  the  boxes.
