POLITICS

The politics in Paco is the same as the procedure in the politics in the Philippines where

the population freely selects who they want to elect in a certain position which was administered

by the Commission on Elections. Paco, as being part of Manila City, the governance of the said

town is spearheaded by Mayor Joseph Estrada and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna. The town of Paco

is under the 5th district of Manila City and compose of 45 barangays, each with its own barangay

chairman and barangay councilors.

District Congresswoman
Amanda Cristina “Cristal” L. Bagatsing
District City Councilors
William Irwin Tieng
Roberto R. Ortega Jr.
Laris Borromeo
Joey S. Hizon III
Ricardo Isip Jr.
Anna Katrina Puzon-Yupangco

Stated above are other officials of 5th district of Manila City which governs the town of

Paco. There are no sources and references found regarding the Barangay Chairmen and Barangay

Councilors of Paco, Manila.

Based from our observations, the flow of politics is just your typical Filipino Politics. There

are some political dynasties from the Bagatsings where Amando Bagatsing’s daughter Cristal

succeeds him as the district’s congresswoman. There are also lots of tarpaulin with the candidates’

faces in it scattered around the town in which politicians really show their presence on the

residents. There are also wall murals of councilors in the town with their names and faces painted

along with Mayor Estrada.
