I. Recognition of graduated studies for citizens of the European Union / European Economic Area Member
States or the Swiss Confederation for admission in a Romanian higher education institution –
undergraduate studies (more information here) and master studies (more information here).
II. Application file. Papers required for admission at Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iaşi are
detailed below.
All EU, EEA, Swiss Confederation citizens must obtain a certificate for the recognition of graduated studies
needed for admission in a Romanian higher education institution.
The file application containing all documents required for recognition of studies must be submitted to the
faculty where the candidate wants to apply (the first choice faculty), by postal service. For more information
about the certificate of recognition of graduated studies for EU, EEA, Swiss Confederation citizens for

Submitting the file to the university must be done until 30 June 2019 for the first admission session (July 2019
session) and until 31 July 2019 for the second admission session (September 2019 session).
II. Application Papers required for admission at Gheorghe Asachi Technical
University of Iasi
1. Application form (filled in 2 copies) – At no. 13 please fill in your personal e-mail address and your home
address where we can contact you (see TUIASI.POB.09-F2 Application form for bachelor
studies/ TUIASI.POB.10-F2 Application form for master studies)
2. The studies documents (copy and legally certified translation in Romanian, English or French):
o for bachelor’s degree studies: the baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent;
o for master’s degree studies: the baccalaureate diploma and the bachelor’s degree diploma or their
equivalent;
3. Birth certificate (copy and legally certified translation);
4. Copy of the passport – valid at least 6 months after the day the letter of acceptance for studies is issued;
5. If necessary, name change documents (marriage certificate, legal decision, etc) – (copy and legally certified
translation);
6. Medical certificate (in English) to prove that the person to be registered for studies does not suffer from
infectious diseases or other illnesses that are incompatible with the future profession. On the medical
certificate it must be specified that ‘The candidate is not registered with mental illnesses and infectious or
contagious diseases’. If the candidate is registered with mental illnesses, he / she will have to bring the
psychologist’s / psychiatrist’s approval that the candidate can perform the studies to be registered to;
7. Certification showing the student status (only for those enrolling to admission session for a second
specialisation / study programme)
8. Undergraduate diploma or its equivalent – original or legally certified copy, for those who have already
graduated a study programme and are enrolling to admission session for a second specialisation / study
programme;
9. International English language certificate, assessed by the Foreign Language Department at Gheorghe
Asachi Technical University of Iaşi. If the candidate does not submit an international English certificate,
he should pass an eliminatory linguistic proficiency exam at our University.
10. 2 photos (3 x 4 cm);
11. Certificate from the Romanian Centre for Equivalence and Recognition of Diplomas (CNRED) recognising
the diploma of previous studies abroad.
a. For those applying for undergraduate studies, the recognition refers to the baccalaureate diploma or its
equivalent.
b. For those applying for master’s studies, the recognition refers to both the baccalaureate diploma or its
equivalent and bachelor’s diploma.

13. In case the previous mentioned certificate was not obtained at the date of submitting the application file,
proof from CNRED that the file is processed has to be provided together with the previous diplomas
(baccalaureat, bachelor’s diploma) and the transcripts of records from the study years graduated, translated
in Romanian / English language if they are issued in any other language than English or French.
14. Other additional documents requested by each Faculty Admission Commission (for exemple transcript of
records, baccalaureate diploma annex).
III. Applying period and criteria
Candidates will submit their admission file online (information will be posted in due time) or in person at the
chosen faculty.
Important: other than these general requirements, each candidate must also meet certain specific requirements
when applying to a study programme, so be sure to also check the Specific Requirements page of the
programme you wish to apply to.
Non-EU students
Faculty of Architecture – candidates have to pass the specific aptitude tests after receiving the Letter of
acceptance.
Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology – candidates need to have passed
a test of Mathematics or Physics or Computer at their high school graduation exam or must have studied
one of these subjects in high school
Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (master programs) – candidates will have to pass
an online interview
In order to apply for the master program Structural Engineering, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
candidates must present a diploma in civil engineering or architecture, or a diploma equivalent to civil
engineering in the fields: architecture, mechanics, environment, computer engineering.

Bachelor Programs
Master programs
Candidates will submit their file (scanned copy) by e-mail at admissions@tuiasi.ro or by postal service at the
Rectorate of Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi (room B102).
The file will be analysed by the faculty and, if accepted, will be sent to the Romanian Ministry of Education
for approval.
Candidates who do not submit this declaration will not be taken into account.
Candidates will pass an English language examination at Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iaşi or they
can submit a internationally recognised language certificate.
Candidates will submit their file (scanned copy) by e-mail at admissions@tuiasi.ro or by postal service at the
Rectorate of Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi (room B102).
The file will be analysed by the faculty. The university will inform the candidates if their file was accepted or
not.
Candidates who do not submit this declaration will not be taken into account.
In Iași you can attend the preparatory year at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi.

Candidates who speak Romanian can skip the preparatory year, but they have to present a Romanian
Language Certificate, issued by a Romanian accredited institution (universities that provide preparatory year
classes for Romanian language learning – see Annex 1).
Candidates who can formally prove that they have studied in Romanian language for at least four years
consecutively do not need to submit a Romanian Language Certificate nor attend the preparatory year.

The second most populous city in Romania, right after Bucharest, the country’s capital, Iași also serves as a
strategic crossroads of commercial routes, with a modern infrastructure and various travelling possibilities.
By plane
Iaşi Airport is one of the oldest airports in Romania. There are direct flights to / from big cities like London,
Madrid, Munich, Rome, Bologna, Turin, Tel Aviv, Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Cologne, Milan, Venice, Larnaca,
Vienna) and new flights are constantly being added. You can find more information here.
Once in Iaşi Airport, the city centre can easily be reached by bus or taxi (20 minutes’ drive).
By train
Once in Bucharest, you have several cheap ways of getting to Iaşi by train. Many students enjoy travelling by
the Intercity express or the first class of other fast trains, which are quite comfortable. Please visit CFR
website (Romanian Railways Company), for the latest train schedules for domestic routes. You can also buy a
train ticket online from this website. Foreign students who are grantees of the Romanian Government have the
same facilities as Romanian students.

By car
The fastest route from Bucharest to Iaşi is via E85, E 581. Please check this Google Map.
By bus
