Topic: Global Education

Lesson Title: Global Education and Global Citizenship

Level: 3rd and 4th grade (upper elementary)

Lesson Duration: 45 minutes

Lesson Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to explain how they can help
preserve the earth and its natural resources. They will also be able to explain why it is
important for us to take care of our environment.

Materials:
Book – Judy Moody Saves the World booklet (Journeys Common Core- Lesson 16)
Lined Paper
Pencils

Procedures:
• Students will popcorn read the excerpt from the book Judy Moody Saves the World.
• After reading, students will discuss the following discussion question:

o What products come from the rain forest?

• Students use their iPads and tablets to research the many items we get from the rain
forest. Each group (4 students in each group) will create a poster about what items we
get from the rain forest. Each poster should include a title, information about the
important of rain forests, and a takeaway that they learned from this mini-lesson.
• Students will present their poster to the class.
