Writing A Research Proposal

What made me decide to choose this topic was the interest I have in women's studies.

Woman all over the world have struggles of their own and feeling insecure about their bodies is

one of them. I was on the computer one day trying to find topics for a paper I wrote junior year

of high school that involved the differences on how advertisements in the 1960s viewed men

and woman. The woman were more portrayed as house maids and almost property to the men.

The men were inferior and that is how people set their views in everyday life. Once I started to

do all of the research I got interested in some of the ads. There were weight gain ads for woman

to become curvy and not thin which completely contracts what today's society wants woman to

look like. It was interesting how things have changed to how they are now which makes me

what to research more about advertising and how it affects woman in today's time.

For this topic, I feel like this can be a good topic for me to see how today’s

society feels about themselves. It interests me largely and I feel like it can be a challenge for me

to research. Before doing research, I think that all women have insecurities about something

about their bodies even if they hide it and some decide to not hide it and feel self esteem issues

because of it. I also think that advertisers try to use good looking people in their ads to try to get

people to buy them which is how woman start to feel insecure. I believe that this topic can be a

sensitive issue for some woman because of how they view their bodies. As well as believing

that many people all over the world have different ways the view body image. I already know

that advertisers use tactics to provoke attention from the public. I also already know that people

have body issue problems and are insecure about themselves.

I am hoping to learn how social media and advertisements influence how women see

themselves and their bodies. To find the answers to my questions will find scholarly articles that

relate to my topic and analyze ads infesising body images.

How do advertisements influence body image in woman?

How have advertisements influence woman from the past to now?
