Description:
Requirements of “Carrier Fluid “in MPI demand that the fluid should be light, well-refined
petroleum distillate of low Sulphur and chlorine, free of unpleasant odour. Kerosene is
generally used as a carrier fluid; however unavailability of pure kerosene and its dehydrating
effect on skin make it less attractive for MPI testing.
Considering this requirement, Ferrochem has developed, “Test Oil” or “Carrier Fluid
“as a replacement for kerosene. The oil has high flash point thus avoiding the damage due to
fire and corrosion. Also the viscosity matches with that of kerosene making it suitable as a
carrier fluid. All these characteristics make the test oil good suspension medium better than
kerosene.

Method of Use:
Test oil can be used same as that of kerosene. Magnetic powder should be mixed in the test
oil as per recommended proportion. Follow the regular procedure of magnetic particle
inspection.
