ACTIVITY: STORIES OF DETECTION

A) Which of these stories did you enjoy the most? Explain why
I really enjoy the story “Philomel Cottage” because it’s an interesting story, and it
really excited me, it’s leave me thinking that you never finish to meet a person, por
example, in this case, the husband of Alix was a murderer, when i read it I was
shocked.

B) Which of this stories could be set in the present day, and which could not? Give
reasons
The one that could be set in the present day I think that is “The unlucky theatre”
because it talks about ghost and we all know that in these days there are people
who still believes in ghosts and i felt that this story can happen to any person who
believes that some place is haunted
And the one that couldn’t I’d say that is “The blue Cross” because I think that in
these days a policeman can’t chase a criminal in other contry, in this case, Valentin
who is from France is chasing Flambeau, who is in London, so actually Valentin
has to report that the criminal is in England, and leave the case to the government
of England.

C) Write a short story about ghosts who appear and cause trouble in a public place
It was October 31 and people of NY were anxious to celebrate Halloween. That day
Laila decided go out and go with his family but the only way to get to her family was the
subway, she had to take the train on 125th Street but she was afraid to take the train
because one day she heard that the station was hunted, when she finally went out she
wass thinking that all the rumors of the station were fake.
She enter to the station and noted that one passenger had felt to the subway tracks, se
was really scared and thought that it was the ghost who lives in the station, a few
seconds later another passenger fell on the stairs,she was freaked out and she
screamed IT IS THE GHOST! All the pepople who was at the station started to laugh of
her, but suddenly the lights turned off and the people got scared an ran out.
At these day people still say that there’s a ghost at the 125th Street station, and that in
Octuber 31 the ghost go out to haunt people.
