Plenary council of the Philippines
2. Repair the Community Chapel (as specified in the methodology)

Project Description

Our proposed project “Sambayanang Kristiyano: Kaharian ni Kristo sa mundo” was inspired by
the directives of the second plenary council of the Philippines. It is an answer to the call of the Second
Vatican Council as CPCP (2017) states that “PCP II links communion with participation and mission.
Participation is a very important aspect of the Church as a communion… In the Philippines, participation
largely means enabling the laity to participate more fully to in the life of the Church and in its task of
mission’ (PCP II 98-99). In the Community Needs Assessment, we conducted last December 6, 2018 the
results show that the need for education (seminars, trainings, workshops, etc.) and spirituality
(recollection, Mass, Retreat etc.) are the most urgent needs that we must address. As a response to the
result of our CNA, we came up with this project of establishing a Basic Ecclesial Community in the Sitio
Paanan ng Bundok, Talisay, Lipa City, Batangas and we will supplement that by renovating the Chapel. A
factor that drove us to propose this project is the growing presence of Jehovah’s witnesses in the Sitio.
We are concerned that they might grow apart from the Catholic faith. This concern along with the results
of the CNA motivated us in proposing this project. The benefits that we envision that this project will
help the Community attain are

the following: (1) We will reinvigorate their faith (2) The community will have a new place of worship.
The project will cover the development of the spiritual aspect of the people of Sitio Paanan ng Bundok. It
will be the primary focus but if a need comes up and it is not impossible for us to help then we will do
what we can. We will reiterate that the spiritual aspect will be the focus and priority of this project
