Catholic Longhorns for Life
Dr. Budzisewski, a UT Government and Philosophy pro-
fessor, will be giving a talk entitled "What We Can't Not
Know about Life" regarding natural law tradition and how
it pertains to abortion. The talk will be on Friday, February
2 at 5:30pm in the St. Francis room, and will be followed
by a small reception. We welcome everyone to this talk!
Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ, an internationally
known opponent of the death penalty and author
of Dead Man Walking and The Death of Inno-
cents; has accepted Bishop Aymond’s invitation
to speak in Austin on Wednesday, February 14,
2007. Sr. Helen will speak at the University Catholic Cen-
ter, at 3:30 p.m. Sr. Helen will be joined by Linda White,
a member of Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation.
Linda’s daughter was murdered. Come hear why the
Catholic Church and murder victims’ families stand in op-
position to the death penalty.

Advocacy Day at the Capital with Catholic Charities
The Texas Legislature is back in session, which gives us a
great opportunity to speak with voices of faith against in-
justice. Catholic Charities will help facilitate this opportu-
nity on Tues, Feb. 6 from 8:30 am- 3 pm. Meet at the
Capital for a rally at 9 with hundreds of other Catholics
from all over the state and a prayer service with the
Bishop, then teams will go to visit Representatives and
share their views. It's a fun and not-so-intimidating oppor-
tunity for people who have never met with their Congress-
persons to do so with other people of faith. For more info

Black Bag Collection this week is for St. Vin-
cent de Paul Society. Society of St. Vincent de
Paul, a worldwide lay organization of Christian
men and women, young and old of every race and color,
numbering 875,000, operates stores in the Diocese of Aus-
tin, which sell used clothing, furniture and appliances do-
nated by individuals. Proceeds from the stores, along with
some donated materials, are used to assist families in finan-
cial crises.
