Luis de Sousa is a local pastor. His church currently relies on ‘word of mouth’ advertising of members to friends and family as a way of bringing prospective members. It also relies on the church’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Currently, the church hasn’t had much of an increase in members, and it has a goal of gaining a hundred new members. Pastor Luis believes that if people know more about the church than they would be more inclined to go. If they know what the church does, their services, events, and how they want to connect with the community, then they would want to go check it out. Additionally, their current tab on the church’s main website doesn’t have much information about the Latin American part of the church. Explanation of inadequacies of the current situation As previously stated in the interview, membership has not been increasing the way they want it to and many people know that a church is there but don’t know much about it or they may not know the church is there. Because the Latin American Ministry is a part of the bigger SUMC, they have a tab on the main church’s website. But, this tab doesn’t have much information about the Latin American Ministry, it just has information about the main church but in Spanish. Additionally, when doing a google search for ‘latin american churches’ or ‘iglesias’ the church doesn’t appear. This is why they want to create their own website. It is hoped by providing an IT solution, that more people will learn about the church and go to it. Then if they like it, they will become permanent members.
