Accomplishment Report in Disaster Risk Reduction Management

(DRRM)

“We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with
knowledge: so lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster
preparedness.” -- Petra Nemcova

Disaster risk reduction is the concept and practice of reducing

disaster risks through systematic efforts to analyze and reduce the causal
factors of disasters. Reducing exposure to hazards, lessening vulnerability
of people and property, wise management of land and environment, and
improving preparedness and early warning for adverse events are all
examples of disaster risk reduction.

There is an increased need for Disaster Risk reduction (DRR)

education in the school sectors because of the massive impacts it has felt
over the past few years as a result of the earthquakes, landslides and
floods. DRR will be a great way to promote resilience as well as save lives
and properties.

# The School Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator appreciatively recognize

the surprise visit of Mr. Jefferson T. David, Project Development Officer II
from the Division of City of San Fernando last November 27, 2018. As the
school disaster risk reduction coordinator should be updated on their
dusties and responsibolities during disasters. This is to mitigate or even
avert the damage caused by natural hazards.

# The quarterly earthquake drill were conducted last February 15, 2018,
June 21, 2018, August 23, 2018 and November 5, 2018. The principal
together with the teachers as well as the pupils and eco – aide actively
participated in the said drill.
# Quarterly reports on earthquake drill were submitted.

# Evacuation Plan were posted in each classroom to ensure that the pupils
identify where to go in case of an emergency situation occur like
eathquake, fire and other calamities when the pupils and teacher needs to
evacuate.

# Fire Extinguishers were refilled so that when an emergency or incident

like fire happens in our school so that we can prevent further damage or
destruction that the fire may cause.

# New equipments like emergency light, bell, flashlights were provided.

# Safety signs and symbols were posted along the hallway and school
premises, these are important safety communicating tools, they help to
indicate various hazards that present in school surroundings . At the same
time, they warn pupils to always keep watching out for those hazards by
giving required information and safety instruction.
