The XO artist announced Wednesday that he's becoming a co-owner of
OverActive Media, reports Complex. OverActive Media is a Canadian group
that funds and runs many eSports teams, including Toronto Defiant of
the Overwatch League, as well as teams for League of Legends, Starcraft,
Rocket League and more.

"As a big eSports fan, I am really excited to be involved in this project," said
the artist in a statement. "I am looking forward to collaborating with
OverActive Media in unique and innovative ways."

OverActive Media CEO and President Chris Overholt added, "We are thrilled
to be welcoming a global superstar like Abel to our investor family. Abel's
standing in the music industry will provide our Toronto Defiant and Splyce
brands the opportunity to reach more fans and engage new audiences."

While celebrity ambassadors like Drake and The Weeknd are helping to bring
eSports to the casual consumer, it's already a billion dollar industry that
continues to grow at monumental rates.
